A Canberra-based community radio station

2XX is a not-for-profit radio station that gives a voice to the Canberra community. Founded in 1976 on the ANU campus and now broadcast from our premises in Civic, 2XX produces between 8 and 12 hours of local programming every day. That is content originating at our station, produced and presented by members of our local community. You can expect to hear everything from programs covering genre-spe

cific music, talk-based programs covering politics, environmental issues, q***r issues, science, conflict resolution, mental health and film, along with multicultural shows presented in a range of community languages.

2XX serves a diverse range of interest groups in the ACT by providing a range of vital information and entertainment services which are not available from public or commercial broadcasters. Over 50,000 Canberrans listen to community radio every week. We can't claim them all, but we do know our listeners hail from almost every age group, ethnic background and interest group imaginable. So tune your dial to 98.3fm or DAB, or stream or catch up on demand at 2xxfm.org.au and lend us your ear!

Tune in 10.30am, Fri 28 Aug, to People Powered 50 Years, to hear two XX legends, Bill Tully and Dave Rentz, on a 2002 program from the vault.

Bill Tully, poet, author, publisher, editor, broadcaster and social agitator interviews Dave Rentz, host of one of 2XX’s longest running and most popular shows, The Hit Parade of Yesterday.

The interview was recorded as Dave was about to leave Canberra. Ranging across Dave’s work as an entomologist classifying grasshoppers to his interest in the wide world of recorded sound as well as his time with 2XX.

Of course, Dave never left 2XX. You can hear The Hit Parade of Yesterday on Sunday nights at 6.00pm, these days coming to us from his home in Queensland through the Community Radio Network.

This weeks TOTW goes to - !!!

Cappo has been around for years, representing the Capital with his unique flows his and irresistible energy

His new single 'Steps' is his first of 2026 and really hits the spot. The beat is mellow, his storytelling lyrics sit perfectly in the mix and his bars are undeniably catchy. This one's gone straight into my spring playlist!

Congratulations .

On Transforming Perceptions this Saturday (Aug 29) at 2:00pm, Aine is in conversation with Tilly Street, Jazz Vocalist and Composer – Life, The Universe and an Album Launch – ‘All At Sea’.

Áine chats with the lovely Sydney-based vocalist and composer Tilly Street about the making of her debut album ‘All At Sea’. Featuring covers and original songs written by Tilly, or by Tilly in collaboration with extraordinary musicians and band members Max Alduca, Andrew Scott and partner Arthur Washington - it is the achievement of her lifetime.

The recording of the album was set amidst the sad and sudden loss of a long-term friend and talented musician, performer and saxophonist, which had the band working to channel their grief into music creation. Tilly said that at times it felt trippy to be recording an album whilst still in the early stages of that raw grief of losing a dear and valued friend. It’s a reminder that we should check in on our friends and colleagues and make sure they are doing okay.

Tilly has been singing since she was a child, enjoying learning piano and guitar and finally falling in love with the Brazilian rhythms of Jobim and songs from the great American songbook with female singers like Carmen Rae and Sarah Vaughan. Her Jazz journey evolved when she met her partner Arthur and became more immersed in the Sydney Jazz scene. Since then she has gone from strength-to-strength performing around the country with the fantastic Pocket Trio and now, launching her first album.

Transforming Perceptions, bringing you news, views and updates on social, emotional and mental well-being from the community multicultural and national mental health sectors.
