ALBUM REVIEW: Chris Arrowsmith dissects the new album from Greek metallers Sons of Hades...

Greek black metallers Sons of Hades fancy themselves as scions of the line of the black metal greats of yore, and on the best tracks on this record - Salem's Lot and Ghost Galleon - you can perhaps see where they're coming from. But then on the kooky La Noche de las Gaviotas they blow

Ladies and gentlemen of the heavy metal persuasion, if you've been nursing a hangover from the underwhelming output of too many bands chasing trends instead of thunder, then strap in—because Kill Ritual have just dropped a Molotov cocktail of an album that's gonna set your speakers ablaze. Album Review: Michael Stronge gets amongst the return album from West Australian death unit Depravity...

The buzz is strong on this one; Perth extremity merchants Deparavity have left it five years between drinks, and the Aussie death metal underground is positively thirsting for the band's new album, Be***al Possession. And they're quite right to do so; when the band slip into the distinctly 'Morbid'....

ALBUM REVIEW: Swedish veterans Treat are the latest band to come under the critical ear of Scott Adams...

Swedish melodic rockers Treat are one of those bands that deserve respect whatever they put out; Riding high at the start of their careers as contemporaries of names like Europe and Pretty Maids they then weathered the dog days of 'alt.rock' before calling a stop to matters and taking an eighteen ye...

ALBUM REVIEW: Gavin Strickmann gets to grips with the new album from Britrock revivalists Soho Dukes...

London/Home Counties rockers Soho Dukes have been bubbling away for a few years now, building a reputation for themselves as solid, reliable purveyors of knees-up tuneage of a very fine vintage. Their soon-com new album is their third full length tale of sodden hearts and rusty coronets, and, optimi...

Swedish melodic metal masters Sarayasign return with a third full-length outing, and everything's right with the World... ALBUM REVIEW: Gavin Strickmann has been immersing himself in the new album from Brazilian hard rockers Creatures...

I'm reliably told that Brazil isn't the most fertile of seedbeds for the sort of music that Creatures make - a swoonsome, heady mix of Dokken and Judas Priest - with most bands ploughing considerably heavier furrows to get their rocks off. But as fans of Celtic and Rangers will tell you, being big f...

ALBUM REVIEW: Mexico's StarForceare the recipients of a deep probe from Ferry Templeton...

Originally released earlier this year through Bandcamp, the good people at Jawbreaker records have very sensibly seen fit to try and bring Starforce's Beyond The Eternal Night album to a wider audience - and of course, we here at Sentinel Daily are always happy to help when it comes to bringing meta...

Sentinel Daily - Metal for Grown-ups...

“Basically, I was tired of writing about bands I had nothing in common with, and whose music I was growing to despise”.

So says Sentinel Daily editor Scott Adams of the end of his relationship with his former web-based metal magazine, Metal as F**k. He continues: “I wanted to write about bands I was genuinely enthused about, bands that generally seemed to have been around in metal’s glory days in the eighties. That’s where the idea of ‘metal for grown-ups’ came from. People my age, in the mid forties to mid fifties age bracket, didn’t really have a web-based magazine aimed at them apart from the big corporate titles that seem happy to cover the same mega bands all the time. At Sentinel Daily we’ll cover those bands of course, but there’s a whole new generation of bands playing classic metal that we want to shine the spotlight on as well. Bands that we love that we think other people of our vintage will too”.

That idea came in late 2015 and now, nearly one million visitors later, Sentinel Daily is staying true to that original ideal. Come along with us for the ride!
