ALBUM REVIEW: Alf-Inge Ingesson has been listening to the new album from returning German speed metal vets Warrant...

Well, I have to say that this is a pleasant surprise! The Speed of Metal is only Warrant's third album in a forty-year-plus career, a career blighted by long periods of inactivity and the obvious, longstanding confusion over their relationship to the 'other' band of the same name; All that said thou...

Finland's Battle Beast; true Marmite warriors, seemingly causing love and loathing over the course of a career that now numbers seven full-lengthers in equal measure... Me? I've wavered between the two camps on occasion, finding much to love but equally occasionally finding myself feeling a little q...

ALBUM REVIEW: Ferry Templeton gives the new album from Aussie classic metallers Flitcraft Aus a spin...

I was talking to Sentinel Daily editor Scott Adams only the other day about Aussie rockers Flitcraft, and how we writers at SD had quickly fallen into two camps over the band over the course of their first two albums. The majority at SDHQ favour the band's first album, Our Long Journey to the Middle...

Max Cavalera and Soulfly, the spearheads of groove metal are soon to deliver their thirteenth album – Chama. A concept album of sorts. The name Chama itself literally translates to ‘Flame”, but it also embodies the burning vitality of the human spirit, the strength of ancestors, the forces of ...

ALBUM REVIEW: German classic metal outfit Crime Band Rocks are back in action with a new album...

German hard rockers Crime have been around for a long time (although inert for a large part of their thirty year existence); On Cold Air, their latest album, they roll back the years to a time when genuine talent and hard work, coupled with impeccable influences, could take a band a long way... Ther...

ALBUM REVIEW: Ferry Templeton assesses the new album from Greek metallers Black Soul Horde...

I enjoyed my last contact with Greece's Black Soul Horde on their 2020 offering Land of Demise; Their slightly simplistic take on NWoBHM/power metal crossoverism threw up some nice tunes, even if the overall feel was a little faceless. In 2025, it seems to be pretty much business as usual for the ba...

FEATURE: Paul Kerr talks to CHUCK BILLY of Testament as the venerable thrashers gear up for the release of their best album in some time...

Testament are back with a new offering, Para Bellum, which in my opinion is currently in the lead for 2025's Album of the Year. What can I say about it that wasn’t covered by the review already up on Sentinel Daily? So I’ve got the enviable job of speaking with the one and

On standout track Mesh of Lies, with it's abundance of melodic guitar interplay, lively drumming and commanding vocals, German veterans Human Fortress sound like true contenders. Other tracks like Pain and Silent Scream don't lag far behind, whilst the calculated slink of The Abyss of Our Souls sees...

ALBUM REVIEW: Alf-inge Ingesson runs the rule over the new album from American thrash legends Testament...

Whilst the 'Big Four' continue to disappoint and bore in equal measure, the bands on the second tier of the thrash hierarchy and below continue to evolve and release, interesting, vital albums on a regular basis. Regular readers of Sentinel Daily will doubtless be aware of this magazine's continued....

Sentinel Daily - Metal for Grown-ups...

“Basically, I was tired of writing about bands I had nothing in common with, and whose music I was growing to despise”.

So says Sentinel Daily editor Scott Adams of the end of his relationship with his former web-based metal magazine, Metal as F**k. He continues: “I wanted to write about bands I was genuinely enthused about, bands that generally seemed to have been around in metal’s glory days in the eighties. That’s where the idea of ‘metal for grown-ups’ came from. People my age, in the mid forties to mid fifties age bracket, didn’t really have a web-based magazine aimed at them apart from the big corporate titles that seem happy to cover the same mega bands all the time. At Sentinel Daily we’ll cover those bands of course, but there’s a whole new generation of bands playing classic metal that we want to shine the spotlight on as well. Bands that we love that we think other people of our vintage will too”.

That idea came in late 2015 and now, nearly one million visitors later, Sentinel Daily is staying true to that original ideal. Come along with us for the ride!
