For 50 years, Canberra Potters has been shaped by people who share a love of clay, creativity and community. On Saturday 26 September, we’re bringing members, friends, teachers, staff and volunteers together for a very special anniversary dinner at Watson Arts Centre.

We’ll begin with drinks in the garden from 5.30pm, before moving into the Gallery for dinner at 6.30pm . An evening of good food, conversation, connection and celebration with the community that has made Canberra Potters what it is today.If you’re a newer member, we’d especially love you to join us.

Tickets include drinks on arrival, canapés, a shared platter dinner and dessert, tea and coffee,alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, plus a handcrafted ceramic gift.

Adult Clay at Canberra Potters

From complete beginners to experienced makers, there are plenty of ways to explore clay at Canberra Potters.

Our Adult Clay program includes a wide variety of 9 week classes, short courses, intensives and masterclasses throughout the year, covering everything from wheel throwing and handbuilding to porcelain, glazing and surface decoration.

A beautiful evening celebrating the opening of Land’s Edge at Canberra Potters.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Preview Night and helped make the evening so special. It was wonderful to see the gallery filled with conversation, connection and appreciation for the incredible work on display.

Land’s Edge is now open — we invite you to visit the gallery and experience the exhibition in person.

Teens Clay: Pathways — Take your creativity further.

Designed for teens aged 14–18, Pathways is a nine-week ceramics course for young artists ready to build their skills, explore their own ideas and develop their creative voice in clay.

Guided by ceramic artists Maricelle Olivier and Abbey Jamieson, students will explore wheel throwing, handbuilding, glazing, surface decoration and personal projects in a supportive studio environment.It’s a chance to build confidence, take creative ideas further and connect with other young people who share a love of making.

A look back at the incredible live demonstrations that brought Fired Up to life.

Throughout the festival, visitors had the chance to watch talented ceramic artists at work, sharing their techniques, processes and passion for clay.

A huge thank you to Alex de Vos, Cathy Franzi, Fran Romano, Maryke Henderson, Jacky Lo, Chris Harford, Malcolm Cooke, Josephine Townsend, Abbey Jamieson and Jackie Lallemand for generously sharing their skills with our community.

From throwing and surface decoration to nerikomi, altered forms and live sculpture, it was a wonderful celebration of the many possibilities of ceramics.

Take a deeper look at One-Step and Two-Step Naked Raku, White Crackle Raku and Copper Fuming, with the opportunity to refine your favourite technique and create more resolved work.

Both workshops run 10am–4pm and are $532.

Canberra Potters hosts a range of high-quality exhibitions each year and is now inviting artists to apply for the 2027 Exhibition Program.

We’re looking for contemporary, collaborative, and engaging ceramic exhibitions that inspire audiences.

We are especially interested in:

* Exhibitions with a contemporary focus.
Themes that are thought-provoking or emotionally engaging.

* Collaborative projects between ceramic artists and artists who work in other mediums.

* Proposals that foster audience engagement and promote understanding of the breadth of contemporary ceramic practice are strongly encouraged.

Deadline: Applications close at 11.59pm on Wednesday 30 September 2026.

A spectacular finale to Fired Up! 2026

A huge thank you to Strathnairn Arts and the Strathnairn Woodfiring Group volunteers who made our Petal Kiln firing and opening such an unforgettable part of the festival.

After many hours of wood firing, the kiln reached close to 1100°C before its eight petals were opened like a flower, revealing the glowing ceramic sculpture by artist Gemma Brown.

It was a truly magical way to close Fired Up! 2026 and we are so grateful to everyone who stoked the kiln, shared their knowledge and helped bring this incredible spectacle to life.

Thank you to our Canberra community for supporting the Fired Up! Ceramic Artist Markets and Open Studios.

It was wonderful to see so many of you browsing handmade ceramics, meeting the makers behind the work, visiting our resident artists in their studios and taking home something truly special.
