I knew the NZ promotions firm Topham-Guerin for many years before they were announced as leading the election campaign for Dutton and the Liberal Party. The news first broke in December 2024.

A couple of months before, however, in a story by Cam Wilson, Crikey reported T-G had been engaged to promote nuclear energy in Australia. This arrangement was never reported on again, but there was plenty of coverage for their appointment to promote the Liberals' election campaign.

Topham-Guerin were the campaign manager for Scott Morrison's "miracle" election win in 2019. The New Zealand firm then went to London to work on Boris Johnson's successful election campaign in late 2019.

After they'd gotten Boris Johnson over the line, the company was awarded a multi-million pound contract to run the Conservative government's COVID-19 media.

It seems Boris Johnson and a number of his cabinet members didn't see the promotional materials!

In late 2023, T-G managed the successful election campaign for New Zealand's current Prime Minister Christopher Luxon with the slogan "getting the country back on track".

It worked for Luxon, but I think it was the longevity of the Labour government, which lost Jacinda Ardern who was replaced by the uninspiring Chris Hipkins that won it, and not T-G's slick marketing tactics.

Given that Dutton's election campaign was probably the worst campaign in Australian History since Billy McMahon, I want to know whether the Liberal Party is happy with the "service" provided by Topham-Guerin.

Because if that was the sort of campaign they'd run for me, I'd be wanting a full refund.

With the Liberal Party desperate for numbers, a recruitment campaign similar to the World War 2 recruitment campaign has been launched. The target market is most definitely old men.

I'm not sure Teddles thought that one through completely.

The Liberals/Nationals family may not be going nuclear, but at the moment, it's sure going ballistic!

One Term Tories

One Term Tories - A Facebook community dedicated to opposing the conservative policies of the LNP & other right-wing nut-job parties.

The page launched as “One Term Tony”, in October 2013, just a month after Abbott was elected, and the page slowly grew. Joe Hockey brought down a budget in May 2014 which basically brought down the government, and this page grew enormously. Smokin’ Joe is now in arguably the most cushy diplomatic job ever, as ambassador to the United States.

When Abbott’s position was shaky thanks to him knighting Prince Philip in the Australia Day Honours list in January 2015 we made the minimalist/generalist choice to change the page name to “One Term Tories” thanks to a suggestion from a reader. While WE had changed the name of the page, it took the Liberals another seven-odd months to change the leader, kicking Abbott out on 15 September 2015, two (or three depending on how you define “until”) days short of Abbott hitting a parliamentary pension benchmark for Prime Minister, and thus under new entitlement rules, NOT entitled to a full Prime Ministerial pension. Ah, if Malcolm had just held off for another couple of days...

The page is NOT run by any party, and is not necessarily in favour of the ALP or the Greens. We are just ordinary citizens who are critically opposed to the right-wing neo-Liberal (Thatcherite) policies of the Big Business Bum Biters we now see in the chambers of Parliament House in Canberra. They have to go.
