Today is an important day to elevate blak voices. We stand behind and their campaign.

As allies, we can listen, learn/unlearn and engage with First Nations communities.

We can do this in some simple ways:
🖤 seek out Indigenous content creators to learn from
💛 attend local First Nations events - this could include talks, stories, culture walks and much more
❤️ Support blak businesses.

And don’t let racism slide - we can only move forward if we stand up to racism.

The book reaches its climax when all Billie’s new friends try desperately to save her. They are swimming off the page, but does that mean they succeeded?

It's National NAIDOC Week, a time to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Australia’s First Peoples. This year the theme is ‘Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud’. The theme celebrates the unyielding spirit of First Peoples and invites all Australians to stand in solidarity, amplifying the voices that have long been silenced.

The Koori Curriculum has put together a fabulous list of First Nations Books to use as resources in NAIDOC Week and throughout the year. Chuffed to see 'Listen' was included.

I’ve been laying low lately, but you can find me this weekend at the market day (well, two days actually 🤪).
I’ll join over 40 makers and creators in the Gandel Atrium on 4 and 5 May.
