Happy birthday Leonardo 🎂

Happy birthday Leonardo 🎂

Happy 51st (!) birthday to Leonardo DiCaprio - the man who caused a collective sexual awakening for an entire generation of gay men in the 90s... but is also an avid LGBTQ ally.

Let's be real: whether it was Romeo + Juliet, Titanic, or The Beach, Leo wasn't just breaking hearts on screen - he was making us realize things about ourselves. The uber t***k energy was UNMATCHED. And that floppy hair...

But here's what makes Leo even more attractive - he's been putting his money and voice where his mouth is for LGBTQ rights since before it was cool in Hollywood. Back in 1995, when he was still a rising star, he took a massive risk by starring in "Total Eclipse," playing French poet Arthur Rimbaud in a film about a passionate gay relationship that included explicit scenes.

People close to him worried it would destroy his career, but Leo didn't care.

Fast forward to 2011, and he did it again - playing the closeted J. Edgar Hoover in Clint Eastwood's biopic, exploring a forbidden same-sex relationship at a time when it could have cost Hoover everything.

Then in 2013, Leo showed up to the GLAAD Media Awards and donated $61,000 to support gay rights - not for publicity, just because he believed in the cause.

He's been one of Hollywood's earliest voices for marriage equality, speaking up for LGBTQ rights long before it became the norm in the industry. While other celebrities were playing it safe, Leo was out here being a real ally.
