🗑️ Is your bin lid losing the battle with the wind?

I have just signed up to take part in the City of Wanneroo’s Bin Spring Trial and I am looking forward to seeing if this gadget can keep my bin lid securely shut!

The bin springs are designed to stop rubbish escaping on windy days and help keep birds and wildlife out. 🐦

🌿 Suitable for red or yellow-lid bins
♻️ Made from recyclable stainless steel
💪 10-year warranty
🎟️ Only 200 are available for the trial!

If, like me, you have ever chased rubbisho down the street after a windy day, this could be worth giving a go! 💨

Councils have voted to redirect red-bin waste to Kwinana’s new waste-to-energy facility, where it will be incinerated instead of sent to landfill.

However, residents surrounding Tamala Park landfill are angry that more isn't being done about the leachate ('bin juice') and gas emissions.

I hope the afternoon was a huge success and raised lots of money for such a wonderful cause. 🌸

Public comment is now open but closes on 20 August 2026.

The Australian Government is now accepting public submissions on the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) referral for Stage 1 of the Neerabup Resource Recovery Precinct & is focused on Matters of National Environmental Significance.

Impacts for your submission:

🌳Removal of up to 16 trees assessed as potentially suitable Black Cockatoo habitat trees
🌳Potential indirect impacts from noise and dust
🌳The site sits within the Gnangara Groundwater System
🌳The Gnangara Underground Water Pollution Control Area is about 250 metres north
🌳A conservation category wetland is associated with the eastern side of the site
🌳The proposal is explicitly Stage 1 of a larger staged development, with Stage 2 identified as including a Waste to Energy facility and additional resource recovery facilities
🌳The WTS may consolidate waste from other local governments, not just City of Wanneroo.

If you choose to make a submission, keep it respectful, write in your own words and focus on the environmental matters being assessed.

Submit your comments here - I will have templates coming soon 👇
