NAREEN FIRIES' BIG 'NO' TO STATE GOVT
NAREEN Group firies will protect their own patch and private property this Summer, but State and Federal property will not have their protection.
The seven local brigades in the group have voted to be non-operational, in direct response to Jacinta Allan and her State Labor Government's new emergency services tax.

THE Cats Under 13 and Under 16 girls footballers will be denied their only chance to play at home this season.
After going to print today, announcing this weekend's home games for Casterton Sandford in the Limestone Coast Women's Football League, the Casterton News has learned that the club has been forced to relinquish its home game to East Gambier.
CN understands Glenelg Shire Council has advised it has insufficient resources to cover the hard pitch on Island Park 1 and club members and volunteers are not permitted to carry out the work, due to OH&S issues.
Club president, Shane Foster said the situation was "extremely disappointing" for the club and the players.
Sunday's games will follow the existing draw, but at East Gambier's McDonald Park.
The Cats' Under 13 girls kick-off the action at 9am SA TIME against the Demons, the Cats' Under 16 girls will join their East teammates against Kongorong at 11.30am SA TIME and the Seniors will face Kongorong at 2.45pm SA TIME.

From Lechelle and our mates across the border ... situation weather wise us similar across our district. Take care in the roads!

Thousands of Limestone Coast properties are without power as a vicious storm front sweeps the region.
Strong winds and lightning have damaged power lines across the South East, with SA Power Networks putting some preliminary restoration times as late as 3am tomorrow.
The majority of the outages have been reported in coastal communities, with smaller blackouts occurring inland.
The State Emergency Service has issued a warning for destructive wind gusts up to 130kmh south east of Robe in the next few hours.
