A Konong property shared this post yesterday, the Glenelg River at Casterton definitely has a bit more depth to it today ... seems like the water is finally running! What does it look like at your place?

🦅🦅H5 bird flu update as cases spread to new regions🦅🦅
Reports from community members and land managers across the state continue to play a critical role in pinpointing new cases of H5 bird flu in Victoria.
A further seven cases of H5 bird flu have been detected in greater crested terns in Phillip Island, Mildura, Warrnambool, Hamilton, Hawkesdale and St. Andrews Beach. The new cases bring the total current number to 60 statewide.

UPDATE: All is fine with Lee ... was just travelling alone in a no service area and understand family did just want to have a chat! Understood he got the message via the chat network and all is well.

Lee Carlin - your family wants to chat! If you see Lee, please give him a nudge in the ribs and let him know.

LEE CARLIN – PLEASE CALL HOME

Lee has been sighted. Thanks for all your help.

This is a prime example of some of the struggles we face in a remote area….. When a Vodaphone (TPG) / Optus mobile turns into a brick.

Bird flu spread makes new rules for large volume poultry owners.

Bird flu spread makes new rules for large volume poultry owners.

A housing requirement is now in place for poultry flocks of 50 or more birds along the south of the state for an initial 14 days following recent detections of H5 bird flu. 🐔

Poultry owners in these areas must house their birds or otherwise prevent contact with wild birds wherever practical.

Housing poultry is an additional risk mitigation option aimed at reducing exposure of poultry to infected wildlife. Wild birds are a known source of H5 bird flu.

Stringent biosecurity practices remain essential. If you notice unexplained illness or deaths in your birds, report it immediately to the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline on 1800 675 888.
