This week we feature the classic album Goldfields Rock 1980.
This recording was made at GCR's* Community Radio Studio in Castlemaine, Victoria. The equipment was purchased with a small grant from the Australian Film Commission. Consequently , only domestic 4 track equipment was available for recording. The record itself was cut at Astor records, Clayton, Victoria.
The songs on this recording are original compositions by the bands Sharp Toys/Castlemaine, plus Cruize and Public Enemy Bendigo and were recorded during Sep and Nov 1980. 45 years ago.

Later another Classic. This time from Fast Forward - John French Archives, MainFM stalwart Pete James Wreford Dawson and Legendary Sound Engineer and Producer John French were busy in Studio 1 on their 2nd Episode of their all new show based on the Australian music scene and their personal favourites. I was lurking in the background still learning and lending my limited skills on Tech.
Both these Segments bring back significant memories of Music and Our much loved Colin Lemon. It was Colin who reminded about the Goldfields Rock Album when I started Our Sounds (after Fast Forward ended), music connected and collected at MainFM, we both purchased a copy from Jermyn's Records and Gifts back in 1980 and Colin spoke to me that day in the mainFM Office about the potential of Fast Forward with John and Pete's easy style, wealth of information, direct connection with Australian music and knowledge of the music industry.
