📻✨ Meet Cameron Hughes, the voice behind Darwin’s 97 Seven’s WCBH, Saturdays from 9am to 11am! For the past 7 months, Cameron has been lighting up the airwaves, and there’s nothing he loves more than being on air. But his story goes far beyond the mic. Picture this: a young Cameron cruising around in his very first car—a 1995 Ford Festiva—dreaming of the day he’d make a difference in people’s lives. Little did he know, he’d become not only a broadcaster but also the Principal of St John’s Catholic College, a fun fact that might surprise his loyal listeners!
🎶 When he’s not on air, you might catch him humming along to Stephen Sanchez’s “Until I Found You” or finding peace in Lauren Daigle’s “Be Okay”—two of his favourite tracks spinning on 97 Seven. Inspired by faith, Cameron lives by the verse, “I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly” (John 10:10), a reminder of the joy he seeks to share every day.
If he could sit down for an interview with anyone, it’d be Winston Churchill, a testament to his love for history and leadership. But life isn’t all serious for Cameron—when he’s not at the station, he’s soaking up family time, especially on travel adventures. And here’s a fun tidbit: he’s been a die-hard Gold Coast Titans fan (and their predecessor teams) since 1988, sticking with them through thick and thin! 🏉
Ever wondered what superpower Cameron would choose? The ability to fly, of course—perhaps a reflection of his desire to rise above challenges and inspire others. His go-to snack, a humble bowl of cereal, keeps him grounded, while the best advice he’s ever received—“Walk slowly and always get plenty of sleep”—reminds him to stay balanced in a fast-paced world.
So, why does Cameron love being part of Darwin’s 97 Seven? In his own words, it’s “such a positive, faith-filled environment.” Tune in on Saturdays to hear his uplifting energy for yourself! 🎙️
