A couple of the common reef species caught off the southern end of Sumba - an Indonesian island where artisanal fisheries support most if not all protein supply for local villages. After lurking around landed boats and pestering locals with google translated questions we were fortunate enough to be invited out for a day as free labour. Handlines are the preferred outfit of choice here - tough work in 70m of water.

A couple days out in the Western Lakes, as expected the fishing was tough, with only a few average fish landed. The beautiful landscape made the trip worthwhile nonetheless
