MERV is excited to announce that director Mike Oldershaw has joined for exclusive Australian representation.

Mike's ability as an actor, and his years of experience as a casting director, have given him the perfect background for his career as a performance/comedy focused director.

Mike has enjoyed great success as a director of commercials, working on major campaigns for companies like IGA Supermarkets, Oporto, RAC, Nestle, PepsiCo, AA Insurance, NZ Police, Sanitarium, BP, Dominion Breweries, Fisher & Paykel, Coca-Cola, McDonald’s, Lotteries, Ford, NIB Insurance along with many, many others.

He directs stories for various media platforms and is just as at home making long format viral content as he is making a traditional 30 sec TV commercial.

Mike loves creating and developing strong characters for storytelling/performance based scripts. He also quite likes it if they’re funny…

CHRISTOPHER IRELAND CAPTURES CAMPAIGN FOR NSW POLICE FORCE

Chris Ireland was commissioned by Havas Host to shoot a print and outdoor campaign for NSW Police Force addressing the issue of sexual violence.

The work called for a careful balance — strength without hardness, vulnerability without sentimentality.

Working closely with the creative team at Havas Host, Christopher helped bring an important message to life through intimate, grounded portraits that invite reflection and trust.

Rather than depict trauma, the campaign offers quiet moments of pause, designed to shift thinking and give victims and survivors the courage to speak up.

Christopher was honoured to collaborate with Havas Host on such thoughtful work. The campaign reflects his broader practice: creating emotionally resonant images that don’t just move people, but move them forward.

MERV DIRECTOR AARON WILSON'S GREATEST CATCH

Great Northern launches The Greatest Catch via Akcelo and MERV's director Aaron Wilson.

Set in the tropical heat of Far North Queensland, dad and daughter reminisce over a photo album of their greatest catches - with a surprising twist.

With much of Far North Queensland flooded at the time of shooting, MERV brought QLD to Victoria, using authentic scenery on volume wall screens at Dreamscreen.

The Far North Queensland vibe extended off set with a hot Melbourne day warming up the studio and the video village set up as a tropical bar.

4 x World Champion Matt Formston, rides 50ft wave into the record books for new feature length documentary titled THE BLIND SEA, directed by MERV’s Daniel Fenech.

The film premiered on Netflix on Saturday, March 1st and is streaming nationwide.

At the age of five, Matt was diagnosed with Macular Dystrophy, a rare eye condition that left him with 3% vision, and a desire ever since to do what everyone else says can’t be done. An avid surfer since his childhood growing up on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, so, when the opportunity arises to go head-to-head with the world’s biggest and most dangerous waves at Portugal’s infamous Nazaré, family fears, super storms, injuries, and a lifetime of doubters won’t stand in the way of Matt’s relentless determination to break through life’s latest obstacle.

Written, directed, and edited by award-winning filmmaker, Daniel Fenech, THE BLIND SEA combines intimate portrait with epic action to produce a film that has to be heard every bit as much as seen.
