Audalize x Sam's Spares : Turning Waste Into Possibility
Every year, capable machines are discarded long before their story ends. At Audalize, we believe in giving those devices a second life with purpose. That’s why we’ve partnered with Samuel Thomas and Diane Lloyd and the team at Sam's Spares, an award-winning Western Australian not-for-profit tackling e-waste and digital inequality head-on.

The tech we purchase from Sam’s Spares has reached the end of its useful life for their core digital inclusion programs, but it’s far from useless. With the right refurbishment, these devices are perfect for powering our Audalize music players in commercial venues. It’s a win-win: reducing waste while creating opportunities.
In 2024 alone, Sam’s Spares diverted over 600 tonnes of e-waste, delivered hands-on IT training for dozens of neurodivergent volunteers and staff, and donated more than 2,900 refurbished devices across WA, valued at over $1 million.

Each refurbished device, typically enterprise-grade Lenovo models like the M920 and M720, is professionally restored by the team at Sam’s Spares. Every unit undergoes rigorous bench testing, memory and storage upgrades, and thermal paste replacement to ensure long-term reliability. Once refreshed, these compact powerhouses drive the Audalize platform, delivering multiple zones of music, dual video channels, and expanded storage from a single, efficient player. Sustainable.
