We’re incredibly proud to welcome Keith Welsh OAM to the Audalize Advisory Board. 🎵

Keith has helped shape the Australian music industry for more than four decades, so having someone with his experience, perspective and care for the industry join Audalize is something we’re genuinely excited about.

Awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for service to the performing arts, particularly through music, Keith has built an extraordinary career across artist management, publishing, music rights and industry leadership.

His career includes:

• Co-founder of Flowers / ICEHOUSE and the band’s original bass player
• Chair of AMPAL
• Board Member of AMCOS
• Deputy Chair of MusicNSW
• Managing Director & Co-Publisher of The Music Network and Canadian Music Network
• Partner at Rough Cut Music and Second Pressing Records
• Manager of ICEHOUSE and Iva Davies since 2010

What stands out most to us is Keith’s deep understanding of music rights, the realities of the music business, and the people and ecosystem behind it all.

As Audalize grows, having that kind of insight around the table matters. We’re very lucky to have Keith on the journey with us.

Please join us in welcoming Keith to the Audalize Advisory Board 👏

Honest question for anyone running a venue…

When did you last actually stop and listen to what’s playing in your space?

Not glance at the speaker. Not think “yeah that’s fine.” Actually sit with it for five minutes as if you were a customer walking in for the first time.

Most people haven’t. And we get it - you’re busy, it’s background noise, there are a hundred more pressing things.

We wrote about this properly on the blog - what the research actually says, why consumer streaming services aren’t the answer (legally or practically), and what it looks like when a business treats music as a real tool rather than an afterthought.

Big news from the Audalize team - our new website is LIVE! Check it out at audalize.com 🙌🏼

Audalize started with a simple belief: the right atmosphere can transform how people feel, connect, and remember a moment.

From our first installation to now powering venues across Australia, New Zealand, and the UK, we’ve stayed true to one principle ‘emotion over everything’. Because when the feeling is right, magic happens and memories are made. From Crown Resorts, Revo Fitness, Flight Club Australia to TotalFusion Australia, Cali Press and restaurants, bars, hotels, retail and fitness studios in between, the Audalize family keeps growing.

With growth comes change, and with that our new site brings everything together - licensed music, visuals, digital jukebox, in-venue ads, and at-table ordering, all built around that same mission.

If you’ve been thinking about transforming your venue’s atmosphere and customer experience, end of financial year is just around the corner and investing in how your space feels is a business cost worth actioning before 30 June.

And if you know a venue owner or operator who may have been thinking about enhancing their atmosphere but doesn’t know where to start, let them know about Audalize.

There’s a certain kind of operator in hospitality that you just have a huge amount of respect for, and Kevin Bartholomew at The Commercial Bar and Kitchen in Perth, is absolutely one of them. 🙌🏼

Ross stopped in last week to catch up with Kevin, who has been an Audalize customer for four years now. Kevin took home the 2022 AHA Award for Excellence in the Redeveloped Venue category, and when you see what he’s built it’s easy to understand why.

He rebuilt The Commercial Bar and Kitchen largely by hand, with a real focus on honouring the railway works history of the Midland area and its connection to the community that grew up around it. The result is a stunning pub with genuine character and a story you can feel when you walk through the door. Kevin is no newcomer to this industry either, having run pubs in Melbourne and Munich before landing in Perth and pouring everything into The Commercial.

Single venue operators like Kevin are the backbone of Australian hospitality and it’s a privilege to be part of what he’s built.

Perth just got a whole lot more fun and we couldn't be more stoked to be part of it!

Ross Woodhams, our CEO and Founder was at the VIP opening of Australia's very first Dave & Buster's last week in Perth, operated locally by NightOwl Entertainment, the same Perth crew behind Flight Club. NightOwl signed a five-store deal to bring Dave & Buster's to Australia and if the first one is anything to go by, the rest are going to be something special.

Over 2,000 square metres, more than 75 arcade games, a 40-foot sports screen with over 30 ultra-HD screens, and a full bar and restaurant. Antonio Bautista, their President of International, flew out from Dallas with a big part of the US team to mark the occasion as the 5th international Dave & Buster's territory in the world. The room had that energy from the moment the doors opened.

We're the partner behind the music and atmosphere guests experience throughout the venue, and Dave & Buster's chose Audalize Select to power their at-table food and beverage ordering too. Welcome to Australia. Perth is very ready for you.

Our CEO Ross Woodhams was in Sydney just last week for the BMS/OneMusic roundtable at APRA AMCOS, and it was a really important conversation about where the Australian music industry goes from here.

How do Australian songwriters keep getting paid fairly as AI, streaming and the wider landscape shift around them? That was the thread running through all of it, and it's one Audalize cares about deeply. We've always believed that the venues background music providers serve are where the industry actually meets the public, and that puts a responsibility on all of us to do more than just show up for the easy parts.

Our position on AI generated music is pretty clear, we think it's a genuine threat to working Australian artists and particularly those who are already underrepresented, and we have some initiatives coming that we're keen to share soon. OneMusic shouldn't have to carry this fight alone and we intend to help.

Thanks to Dean Ormston, Karen Holmes and Richard Mallett for the invite. Australian artists deserve an industry that backs them properly and we're committed to being part of that.

Ross was in Scarborough this week visiting the team at Brighton Wine Bar and honestly, what a venue. 🙌

Our CEO and founder made the trip to catch up with owner Ben Randall, check in on how the atmosphere Audalize is curating is landing, and make sure everything is dialled in exactly the way Ben wants it.

It's the kind of check-in that matters. Because getting the atmosphere right isn't a set-and-forget job. It's an ongoing conversation between us and the people who know their venue best.

If you haven't visited Brighton Wine Bar in Scarborough yet, you're missing out. It's quickly become one of the hottest spots in WA and it's easy to see why. 🍷

Perth hospitality is absolutely thriving right now and we couldn't be prouder to be part of it.

Most venues treat music as background noise - until they realise the playlist shapes their space just like decor or lighting. When curated with intention, sound becomes a key part of your venue's identity, creating loyalty and a premium feel that guests remember and return for.

The question worth asking: what is your venue's atmosphere actually doing for your brand right now?
