Colac Otway Shire Council has introduced a new online booking system for campers at Meredith Park.
The new platform will allow Council officers to better prepare for peak visitation periods and improve the scheduling of essential services such as waste collection and emptying the septic system to accommodate busy times.
It will support management of the campground by providing accurate information about visitor numbers and occupancy, helping Council respond quickly and effectively if required.
Meredith Park is a popular destination, attracting both campers and day visitors. The area offers opportunities for boating, kayaking, and enjoying the natural surrounds.
Council Chief Executive Officer Andrew Tenni said Council is investing in a detailed management plan for the reserve.
“The new booking system is one of the improvements identified in community feedback conducted earlier this year.
“Meredith Park remains a free camping destination and if you’re planning to stay longer than a day, jump online and book your campsite,” he said.
“Introducing the new booking system means we can better plan for busy periods and ensure essential services are in place, improving safety and comfort for everyone who enjoys Meredith Park," Mr Tenni said.
To help manage demand and maintain services, campers who plan to stay longer than 24 hours must make a booking through the new system. Campers can stay at the site for up to 14 days.
The new booking system gives campers the knowledge they need to enjoy Meredith Park responsibly, while helping us maintain a safe, comfortable, and family-friendly setting for all.
