We began broadcasting in 1991 as Colac Public Radio and our license (3OCR) has expanded to include the Otways and across South West Victoria. The station is manned entirely by volunteers, from presenters right thro

ugh to management. Our programming consists of a variety of specialist music programs such as rock, country, folk and comedy, to information programs, sports and access programs for the print handicapped.

We rely on membership from community members, donations and sponsorship (advertising) from local businesses to assist with the running of the station. We are not a government funded body, but appreciate any grant funding to assist with purchasing new equipment. PLACE ACTIVATION AND EVENTS OFFICER

Colac Otway Shire Council is seeking a skilled and community-focused professional to champion events and place activation across our region. This is a unique opportunity to support and grow a thriving local events landscape that reflects the character and aspirations of our communities.

In this role, you’ll work closely with community groups, commercial organisers, and regional partners to facilitate, promote, and attract a diverse range of events across the Shire. You’ll provide expert guidance, build organiser capability, and ensure events are safe, inclusive, and aligned with Council’s strategic goals for place activation and the visitor economy.

Your work will directly contribute to the vibrancy, identity, and economic vitality of the Colac Otway region.

About the Role
As the Place Activation and Events Officer, you will:
- Coordinate and support a diverse range of community and commercial events.
- Facilitate Council-led initiatives that reflect the region’s identity and aspirations.
- Develop a strategic, year-round events calendar with a focus on off-peak activation.
- Build strong relationships with community groups, businesses, and regional partners.
- Promote events through digital and traditional channels to maximise reach and impact.
- Manage budgets, pursue funding opportunities, and support organisers with financial planning.

What You’ll Bring
- Tertiary qualifications in Events, Marketing, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated success in event or project management
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and organisational skills.
- Experience with digital platforms and event promotion.
- A current Victorian Driver’s Licence.
