We were thrilled to partner with ABC Adelaide, SAFC and The Mercury to capture all the action at this week’s 50th anniversary screening of Storm Boy. 🎥

It was a real honour to film the panel discussion with filmmaker Scott Hicks, who had his very first job as a runner on Storm Boy, alongside Chad Crittle, Director of Adelaide zoo, who shared some wonderful stories and insights about the original pelicans who became such beloved stars of the film! 🐦🎬

We are also excited to announce that we have secured the broadcast of Storm Boy thanks to Umbrella on Friday 18th at 7.30pm and repeated on Sunday 20th at 4pm. Don’t miss it!

How Storm Boy has changed lives ❤️

We loved meeting Megsy at the 50th anniversary screening with South Australian Film Corporation and Channel 44 of the iconic Australian film Storm Boy at The Mercury 👏

After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023, Megsy chose to mark a new chapter with a meaningful tattoo: a pelican taking flight where her cancer once was.

"I've got a tattoo now of a pelican over where the cancer was, taking off to new and better things," she told 891 ABC Adelaide's Deb Tribe.

🎪 2027 ADELAIDE FRINGE VENUE REGISTRATIONS OPEN NOW 🎪 Learn more about having a Fringe venue here: https://buff.ly/rMfcpFl

From pubs and rooftops to community halls, cafes, galleries and unexpected regional spaces, South Australians are being invited to become part of Adelaide Fringe 2027, with venue registrations now open and completely free for venues to register.

Adelaide Fringe is open access, meaning anyone with a venue can register as a Fringe venue and curate a program that works for their space and audience.Venues connect directly with artists through Fringe's registration platform and can build a line-up that suits their location, community or business.

In 2026, 562 venues registered with Adelaide Fringe, with more than 8,000 artists performing across more than 500 venues throughout South Australia. Taking part can help venues reach new audiences, increase exposure and create new revenue opportunities while providing a platform for artists.

Adelaide Fringe Executive Director, Programs and Development Jo O’Callaghan said,
“Adelaide Fringe is built by artists, venues and communities across South Australia, and every year it’s the variety of spaces that helps make the program what it is. A Fringe venue doesn’t need to be a traditional arts space. It can be a garden, a pub, a hall, a rooftop, a winery or somewhere audiences wouldn’t normally expect. Registration is free, and we want venues of every size and from across the whole state to participate.”

Existing venues that already host live performances can register eligible shows they are presenting during Fringe time and connect them to their venue through Adelaide Fringe’s registration system.

This year also brings a new and improved version of AVR, Adelaide Fringe’s Artist and Venue Registration platform, with a fresh look and feel and a smoother, more intuitive registration experience.

The exciting new series adaptation of Miles Franklin’s iconic My Brilliant Career has not only launched globally on Netflix as the single biggest season of television ever made in South Australia, and delivered a huge economic and employment impact to the state, it's also the fourth most-watched series by Netflix viewers around the world!

Filmed in South Australia last year with the support of the South Australian Film Corporation (SAFC), My Brilliant Career has injected an anticipated $19 million into the state’s economy through direct production spend, employed 600 South Australians across the production’s creatives, crew, cast and extras, and engaged 410 South Australian businesses across supporting services including hospitality, accommodation, transport and more.

Based on the Miles Franklin novel of the same name, My Brilliant Career follows Sybylla, a fiercely modern young woman with one burning ambition: to be a writer, even as her family pushes her toward marriage. Sybylla breaks every convention of 1900 Australia as she chases a story that could write her way to independence, until she falls in love. Will she marry, or risk it all for a creative life?
