📍 Cedar Creek Falls, Airlie Beach

🌴 Located half way between Airlie Beach and Prosperine on Saltwater Creek Road is Cedar Creek Falls. There’s a nice natural rock pool, set amongst the rock amphitheater complete with a waterfall, although it was just a trickle when we visited. It was a good stop with children as it was a short walk to the falls from the car park. The car park didn’t have a lot of room for larger vehicles or trailers, with no turn around spot. The area was surrounded by majestic white cedar trees, Alexandra palms and colourful butterflies. There are bush walks available to another rockpool and waterfall and the top of the big drop. On the way to the falls there was a plant nursery that we stopped at for coffee and ice cream, you can’t miss it. Worth checking out, bring your bathers!

Keppel Sands is not far from where we are staying at the Junabel Farm Stay. It’s not your typical “nice beach” at low tide, but there was plenty for the boys to explore, and they loved sinking there feet into the “quick sand”.

What a view! The best part of the Alkoomi Farm Stay was heading to the bench swing at the top of the hill behind the homestead for sunset and sunrise. The views blew us away, and the morning or evening light made it all the more spectacular.

Alkoomi Farmstay ~ located 50 minutes from Gladstone or 35 minutes from Rockhampton. This spot is a family owned working cattle farm. They took us around to feed the animals and had a beautiful swing seat perfectly positioned at the top of a hill overlooking stunning rolling hills. For those looking for a bit more adventure they also offer horse and pony rides, motorbike and ATV rides and a sunset chuckwagon farm tour (all paid activities).

Paperbark Forest, Agnes Waters 🌳 What a spot! Beautiful paperbark trees, climbing vines and ferns scattered amongst the creeks stepping stones. This place had a magical feel and was a short walk for little legs. Arguably the most well known attraction in the area and you can see why. We all enjoyed checking it out. Chinamans Beach, Agnes Waters 🌊 This beautiful place is only three minutes from town, it has big gutters for fishing close to shore, soft sand, a picnic table and carpark right overlooking the beach. There are some little rock pools at the northern end and we heard that during turtle landing season, turtles nest and their marks can be seen on the sand in the morning. A tropical paradise with lots of rocks to explore, we’d highly recommend a visit.
