🐾 Pawsitive news for Coolum dog lovers! 🐾

Sunshine Coast Council has officially adopted its new Dog Exercise Area Regional Plan and thanks to strong community feedback, Stumers Creek will remain off-leash 🐶❤️

We’re pleased to see Council recognise what locals already know: Stumers Creek is a cherished part of Coolum life, and keeping it off-leash supports community connection, healthy lifestyles and responsible dog ownership.

Cr Maria Suarez, Division 9 said the plan strikes an important balance between protecting our sensitive coastal environment and ensuring dog owners continue to enjoy generous access to outdoor spaces across a region with more than 54,000 registered dogs.

Here’s what’s changing at Stumers Creek:
✔️ The much-loved off-leash beach zone (3km north and south of the creek) stays exactly the same
✔️ For improved safety, dogs will now need to be on-leash until they’re 10 metres beachside of the carpark
✔️ No other changes – the unique character of Stumers is protected

More broadly, the new plan sets a vision for 22 new dog parks over the next 20 years and clearer, safer off-leash areas across the Coast. Changes will start rolling out in 2026.

We’re grateful to everyone who had their say! This is a win for locals, visitors, and our four-legged friends alike! 💚🐕

Below is a photo of Rocky Raccoon and Astrid, the Schnauzers who adore Stumers Creek. We'd love to see your photos of your dog enjoying this special patch of Coolum Beach.

If you have been affected by the Zone RV closure or you are simply looking for a job, we are here for you ❤️

Coolum Business and Tourism has been helping impacted workers connect with local businesses through our networks, and we will keep doing that. We also want to make sure you can access a bigger, region-wide platform that can help you find your next opportunity.

✨ The Sunshine Coast Jobs Hub is a free job platform for the whole region where you can:
✔ Browse local roles
✔ Upload your AirCV for free
✔ Get seen by more employers
✔ Access opportunities updated daily

Local businesses can also list jobs for free. If you are hiring, please jump on and help us support those affected.

We are working with Council and the Queensland Government as more details emerge and we will keep you informed.

Job searching can be fun and feel overwhelming at the same time. Thinking about your next job opportunity is an exciting time and although it takes hard work and dedication, it is also a very worthwhile and rewarding exercise.
