Last week I did an interview with Alexandra from The Land newspaper ❤️ After we chatted we headed outside to get some photos with some dogs, and, well, let’s just say that Alexandra is incredibly patient! What do they say about working with children or animals…? 🤪😂

A Kelpie scared of sheep inspired a new venture for Cootamundra's Catherine Rains, writing a series of children's books.

River & Wren Friends!!!

As a special Christmas one-off, I will have plush kelpie toys (Minky and Mack, either sitting or lying) for sale this Sunday. Huge thanks to Emma from for giving us special permission for this. Although I do not make these plush toys myself, they are designed in Australia and are made out of recycled plastic bottles - how cool is that?! And they’re super cute too 😍

Available in a package deal with a book or on their own, please stop by if you know a child who loves “The Sheepdog who was Afraid of Sheep” or “The Sheepdog who got Lost in the Hills” and would love a Minky or Mack toy under the tree this Christmas 🎄🎄🎄

See you there!

If you’re adding a dog to your family this summer/Christmas (or know someone who is), “The Clever Kid’s Guide to Living with Dogs” would be a great Christmas present to help keep everyone safe. Remember - Be kind to dogs. Respect them. Be fair 🐾💜🐾

This post scares me. A lot. It is the first time that I have read one of my poems on social media, or in fact shared in public in any form, except of course my actual books. But my books are different, as those poems are about dogs, and this one is personal. I have in my bio that I’m an occasional poet, and this is my first step to sharing some of my poems (unless it goes terribly and I go back to keeping them all to myself 😬).

So here it is. My first publicly spoken poem. I was inspired to share it when attending , the fabulous conference for self-published authors organised by the truely fabulous Laura Feldman from . The theme of the conference was “What is your why?”, and I think this poem (written months before the conference) sums it up pretty well for me.

Who knows - maybe some of my fellow authors can relate?

(And for reference, I have both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Animal Science, which will make sense when you listen to my poem 😊)
