11,000kg in one day!

Another massive achievement by the Give a Sheet® for the Planet team and the local communities from Noosa, Sunshine Coast and Newcastle.

This demonstrates 's ability to support household donation and collection with onshore commercial scale resource recovery.

🌿 Give a Sheet for the Planet®, Record-Breaking National Recycling Week! 🌿

To celebrate , BlockTexx - textile recovery facility teamed up with Noosa Council, Sunshine Coast Council, and City of Newcastle to hold three Give a Sheet® for the Planet events in their communities..

More than 900 cars and Utes loaded up with end-of-life sheets, towels, and pillowcases flowed through the drop-off points across the three sites. By the end of the day, records were broken, with more than 11,000kg of end-of-life household linen donated. That’s the equivalent of 72,000 pillowcases diverted from local landfill or export.

A big shout out to the councils who mobilised their ratepayers and businesses to tackle the problem of textiles going to local landfills.

BlockTexx® estimates that the National Recycling Week events offset approximately 330,000 kg of CO2, which is the equivalent of taking 71 cars off the road per year.

If you would like to get involved and host a Give a Sheet for the Planet event in 2025, We would love to hear from you, join in at www.giveasheetfortheplanet.com

We are on an urgent mission to stop textiles and clothing going into landfill. For World Environment Day, we’d like to share our sustainability highlights for the year so far.

Since the start of 2024, we have more than doubled our processing capacity, joined the Alliance of Chemical Textile Recycling, applied CellTexx® Hydromulch to grow grass, joined the CanopyStyle initiative to keep vital forests out of fashion supply chains, and recently celebrated Australian innovation and sustainable fashion at Kirribilli House.
