The Nepalese Association of Northern Territory Inc (NANT) successfully organised the Topi Diwas & New Year 2026 Meet and Greet Programme on Thursday, 1 January 2026, at the Filipino Community Centre, Marrara. The event was marked by strong community participation and vibrant celebration of Nepali culture, unity, and identity.
The programme brought together families, youth, elders, and newly arrived Nepali community members, creating a warm and inclusive environment to celebrate Topi Diwas, a day that honours the Nepali Topi as a proud symbol of national identity, heritage, and cultural values, along with welcoming the New Year 2026.
Speaking on the occasion, NANT President Ms Prativa Devkota highlighted the importance of unity within the diaspora. She stated that programmes like Topi Diwas help preserve Nepali culture abroad while strengthening harmony, mutual respect, and cooperation among community members. She expressed her happiness at seeing strong community engagement and thanked everyone for their continued support towards NANTтАЩs activities.
Likewise, President of the Non-Resident Nepali Association of Northern Territory (NRNA NT), Mr Trilochan Sapkota, congratulated NANT for the successful organisation of the programme. He praised the collective effort of the community and emphasised the role of such cultural gatherings in keeping Nepali traditions alive while fostering collaboration among Nepali organisations in the Northern Territory.

The programme was smoothly and professionally hosted by NANT Secretary Ms Kalpana Pandey and Joint Secretary Ms Shanti Brama, whose coordination and presentation added to the success and positive atmosphere of the event.
Concluding the programme, NANT thanked the entire Nepali community of the Northern Territory for their continued trust and cooperation. The association also announced its upcoming cultural celebration, Maghe Sankranti, scheduled to be held on 15 January 2026, and invited all community members to participate.
The Topi Diwas & New Year 2026 Meet and Greet Programme once again reflected the unity, cultural pride, and growing strength of the Nepali community in the Northern Territory.
