Looking for recommendations Roof Top Tent on a BOAT🛶⛺️- Hey Campers, Cruisers, and Gear Gurus! 👋 Stop Scrolling!
We have a question that's been rattling around our brains and we need the combined brainpower of the Camping world to figure this out!
Forget the truck bed, the trailer, or the 4x4 for a second please. We're seriously looking at mounting a Roof Top Tent (RTT) on our plate boat (a sturdy, flat-topped center console).
Yes, you read that right. A tent. On a boat. For overnight anchorages where we want quick, comfortable, and dry elevated sleeping that’s off the deck and away from any splash/critters.
The Big Question: Which RTT is Boat-Worthy and Why?
We need your brutally honest, experience-backed recommendations on RTT models, specifically focusing on how they'd fare in the aquatic environment that we will be subjecting it to.
👉 The Challenge: Give Us a Piece of Your Mind!
Plate Boat Crew: Have you EVER seen this done? What are the structural issues we need to consider? What's the maximum weight you'd safely put up there?
Camping/Caravan RTT Veterans: Which brands/models are known for their superior seals, marine-grade metal components, and mold-resistance? (Hard Shell vs. Soft Shell — which one would survive the sea better?)
The Sceptics: Tell us why this is a terrible idea and what we should do instead (e.g., a custom canvas bimini/enclosure).
Drop your model recommendations, your warnings, your CAD drawings, or even your sarcastic GIFs below! 😝 The RTT will go on the boat below ⬇️
