For as long as I can remember, we've given gifts to each of our staff at our end-of-year parties. But as well as the gift (which, over the years, has included custom Frank Green pet food bowls & Oodies), we give a speech and thank every staff member individually, publicly.

Over the years, it's gotten harder to spontaneously riff as the team has grown, but there's something powerful about 'seeing' people in front of their partners and peers. Of calling out what makes them unique, and why we value them.

And while people may not remember everything that was said about them, they do remember how they felt. And that's the gold.

Fantastic to see Audio ID launched by CRA, and it's great that Australia's major audio/media/entertainment companies are working together to make it possible.

Fantastic to have (most) of our team together for the Abe's Audio 2025 Christmas Party🎄 (Yes, we went early.)

The flexibility of being able to work from anywhere is great - and many of our team work remotely - but you just can't beat the water cooler chats!

Sad to hear the passing of John Laws. One of my (Abe's) first jobs in radio was to record the John Laws Morning Show on reel-to-reel (yes, I'm that old!) for delayed playback 30 minutes later. I was at 5CC, a regional station in SA, and he was in NSW.

Great idea - except when I was running late and missed the crucial first few seconds of his iconic theme song! I remember hatching a cunning backup plan - and pre-recording that song separately for seamless playback. Fair to say, I used this more than a few times!

Lawsie was an icon of his time.
