🌸 Mary’s Jomanda 🌸

A little ball of perfection! 💕 Mary’s Jomanda is one of those dahlias that instantly catches your eye with its gorgeous bright pink colour and beautifully formed, perfectly rounded blooms.

The petal formation is just 😍 — so neat, full and symmetrical. Definitely a variety that makes you stop and admire it every time it opens in the garden.

One of those blooms that looks just as beautiful in the garden as it does in a vase. 🌿💗

Devon Salmon 🌸 One of those “non-unicorn” dahlias that I know will forever have a place in my garden. 🤍

She may not be rare or hard to find, but honestly… who needs a unicorn when you have a dahlia this good? 😍

Beautiful colour, incredibly prolific, and an absolute dream as a cut flower. She just keeps pumping out blooms and looks gorgeous both in the garden and in a vase. 🌿✨

Definitely one of those reliable varieties that earns its permanent spot in the garden. 🌸

🌸 What’s the common denominator between these 3 beautiful blooms? 🌸

They were ALL grown from cuttings last season! ✂️🌱

I’ve never felt particularly lucky with cuttings. I’ve tried several times before, but not a single sprouted cutting survived. Maybe it was my technique, maybe my timing, or maybe the dahlia gods just weren’t on my side. 🤷🏻‍♀️ After a few failed attempts, I basically gave up.

But growing from cuttings came with another little problem… tubers! 😅

One of these produced absolutely no tubers, while the other two produced only a tiny amount. So instead of dividing them this season, I’ve replanted the entire clumps and I’m hoping they’ll reward me with a decent stash of tubers this time. 🤞🏼🌱

And then tonight… I did something brave. 😬

I turned on the heat mat and grow light, grabbed some of my precious tubers, and buried them in a mix of moist coco coir and vermiculite, hoping to get them growing early enough to take cuttings and create a little backup supply of tubers.

Am I excited? YES.
Am I nervous they’re going to rot? ALSO YES. 😂🫣

But I’m giving cuttings another chance this season. Maybe this will finally be the year I crack the code! ✂️🌱

Fingers crossed for lots of healthy sprouts and, hopefully, LOTS of tubers at the end of it. 🤞🏼🌸

Anyone else terrible at cuttings but somehow still refuses to give up? 😂

✨ A little change around here! ✨
I’ve changed our profile logo to something extra special — it now symbolises both of my daughters’ names. 💕🌸
With our second little girl arriving before the end of September, I thought it was the perfect time for a new logo and a little refresh! 🥰
Now for the fun part… 👀
Can you guess our second daughter’s first name? 🌸
I’ll give you a little clue: you might be able to find the answer hidden somewhere in our new logo. 😉

The only Waterlily dahlia I’ve managed to grow beautifully so far — Fern Irene. 💛🌼

I tried Kelgai Anne and Buckajo Leilani last season, but both decided to bloom with open centres and were, well… a little meh. 😂 Will still give them another chance this season though.

Fern Irene, on the other hand, was practically neglected and still showed up looking this gorgeous. 😂💛 Such a bright, cheerful yellow that instantly lifts your mood the moment you see it.

Some dahlias need all the fuss. Fern Irene clearly prefers the “leave me alone, I’ve got this” approach. 😆

Definitely one for the keepers in my garden! 🌼✨

🌸 WV Victorian Blush — the obsession was justified. 😂💗

I’ve been obsessing over this beauty since 2023, so you can imagine my excitement when I was finally lucky enough to acquire and grow her last season! 🥹🌸

And honestly… she did NOT disappoint. ✨ Super lush, incredibly prolific, and surprisingly heat tolerant through our scorching summer. She just kept pumping out those gorgeous blooms like it was no big deal.

So yes, my Victorian Blush obsession is officially validated. ✅🤣

And because good things are meant to be shared… I’ll have a limited number of tubers of this absolute beauty available in my sale tomorrow! 🌸🛒

🍇 Bilpin’s Big Fat Grape (BFG) 🍇

One of my absolute faves from last season! 💜 And honestly, with a name like Big Fat Grape, it really does live up to the assignment.

BFG is such a gorgeous medium decorative dahlia, with that lovely round form and a beautifully tight centre that just keeps its shape so well. 🌸✨

And that colour?! 😍💜 It’s stunning on its own, but I especially love how effortlessly it plays with the other varieties in my collection when arranged in a vase.

Big, fat, round and ridiculously pretty… basically everything I want in a dahlia! 😂🍇🌸

🌸 Hamari Gold or not?? 🤔🌸

I posted a video of this in the group to get everyone’s opinion because I bought it in 2024 labelled as Hamari Gold. But after seeing the “real one” in the DSV Dahlia Show’s class, I immediately thought… mine is an imposter! 😂

I posted a video of this in the group to get everyone’s opinion because I bought it in 2024 labelled as Hamari Gold. But after seeing the “real one” in the DSV Dahlia Show’s class, I immediately thought… mine is an imposter! 😂

It’s massive, but the colour on mine is definitely redder than the usual Hamari Gold, and the older petals don’t drop/reflex back towards the stalk. Because of that, it doesn’t have that really full, rounded look that the true Hamari Gold seems to have.

A few dahlia experts in the group reassured me that it is the real deal and that differences in growing conditions, timing and lighting can affect how a bloom presents. 🌸

So… Hamari Gold or not? I guess we’ll never know for sure! 😂

Either way, she’s absolutely gorgeous, and I’m definitely keeping her, whatever she is! 🧡🩷🌸
