Stageco steel and ROE Visual LED screens played a pivotal role in one of the most significant live music events in Dutch history – DI-RECT’s farewell concerts at Rotterdam’s De Kuip stadium, home of Feyenoord. Tasked with delivering this historic production, Sightline Productions engaged Stageco to provide staging infrastructure and the build while Creative Technology (CT) Netherlands selected ROE Visual’s Black Quartz LED panels to create an impressive production for 145,000 fans.

The concerts marked the final chapter in De Kuip’s legacy as a live music venue. Over nearly five decades, the stadium has evolved into one of the Netherlands’ most revered concert stages. However, due to upcoming residential developments and increasing concerns over noise pollution, the City of Rotterdam has decided to discontinue large-scale performances at the venue 🏟️

With an esteemed career behind the faders, Bill Sheppell has mixed for the likes of Beyoncé and Bon Jovi over the years. This year, he lent his talents to Shakira, mixing for her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour. Sheppell sat down with TPi to discuss his workflow for the tour, which included the Universal Audio Apollo X16D.

“I started with Shakira in June, mixing the 2024 Copa América final halftime show,” began Sheppell. “Tour rehearsals started in October and went through to January 2025 with the first show taking place in early February in Brazil.”

When it came to his mixing approach, he stated how his main goal was to “keep her vocal out front, no matter what the song style”. He continued: “This went from thumping club stuff, to straight ahead rock, or a delicate ballad.”

When Oasis announced their long-awaited return on 27 August 2024, the news instantly struck an emotional chord with live music fans worldwide. As tickets vanished swiftly and speculation swirled around support acts and production details, a dedicated team of touring professionals, creatives, and rental specialists were quietly assembling behind the scenes. Their mission: to deliver a production that not only exceeds expectations but is, above all, ‘biblical’.

In response to overwhelming demand, Oasis added extra dates across the UK and Ireland before heading to North America, Australia, South America, and Asia. Support acts included Cast, Richard Ashcroft, Cage the Elephant, and Ball Park Music, with experienced Production Manager, Tony Gittins orchestrating the complex logistics 🚛

Last week, while overnighting at a ridiculously picturesque rural cottage, TPi visited Millennium Studios for Funktion-One Live for a hands- and ears-on showcase of the audio innovator’s latest live sound solutions – exploring the company’s new PSM15 stage monitor, along with its updated preset library, amplification and DSP platform.

It was a privilege to watch Big City Beats perform with Funktion One Research Ltd.’s newest sonic solutions; sit down with the don himself, Tony Andrews, and spend time with those driven by an unrelenting pursuit of audio excellence.

For those who couldn’t make it, the next chance to experience Funktion One Research Ltd.’s live sound package will be at Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) 2026 in Barcelona, from 3 to 6 February, in Audio Demo Room E2. In the meantime, keep an eye out for the full write-up in an upcoming edition of TPi Magazine 🔊
