What an absolute belter of a cod opening week! The crew clocked up 25+ hours on the water, pushing sunrises, late nights, and everything in between and it all paid off in style.
We kicked things off with a thumping 107cm cod to officially welcome in the season, and by the end of the week we’d landed over 65 fish. Some on surface, some subsurface… but one thing stood out more than anything else:

A*z managed to crack not one but two absolute unicorns 130cm and 124cm in a dam known for making you work hard for every bite. Wisey wasn’t far behind, sticking a 119.5cm donkey on a fly he tied himself, which honestly might be one of the coolest captures we’ve ever talked about on the podcast.

Our latest mission took us to Lake Maraboon, chasing the kind of barra that turn grown men into nervous wrecks. From the moment we launched, it was one of those trips where every cast felt like it could change your life.
The place served up everything…blistering heat, electric storms, glass-out afternoons, and enough big redclaw to feed a footy team. Mixed in with that were the real moments: the heart stoppers, the mental battles, the times you question why you even fish… right before the universe rewards you for sticking it out.
And boy did we get some rewards!!
A*z was absolutely over the moon to land not just one, but TWO true giants, a 130cm weapon and a 124cm slab of Maraboon power. Fish that don’t just bend rods… they bend your brain.
Then Wisey stepped up with one of the most unreal captures we’ve ever witnessed, a 119.5cm monster barra on his own hand-tied fly. That’s art meeting chaos. Doesn’t get better.
Surrounded by a great bunch of blokes, the energy, the teamwork, and the laughs made it all even better. It was the kind of trip that hits you in the chest! The type you’ll talk about for the rest of your life.
