I've been lucky enough to visit Scotland twice now, and I can confidently say I'd go back in a heartbeat 🤩

There's something about travelling with my camera that I absolutely love, but being able to photograph people in places like this is the ultimate dream!!

Santorini, Iceland, Africa, Italy, New Zealand, Scotland again 😜 Honestly, I would go just about anywhere

So I'm just going to put this out there...

If you're dreaming of running away somewhere incredible to get married, whether it's just the two of you or a handful of your favourite people, PLEASE take me with you!!

I really want to photograph more destination elopements and build that side of barefoot + ember, so you just get me there and give me somewhere to sleep, and I'm in!! 🛩️

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, grandads and father figures out there

I feel like it’s probably fair to say that ‘Dad’ isn’t usually the one who booked the family photos 😂

But give them five minutes to forget about the camera, start mucking around with the kids and just do what they normally do, and suddenly some of my favourite photos from the whole session happen

The shoulder rides, the wrestling, the cuddles, the terrible dad jokes and the little looks between them that you couldn’t plan if you tried… those are the bits I love 🤎

So here’s a little appreciation post for all the dads who show up, even when family photos might not have been their idea

And to all the dads I’ve had in front of my camera, thank you for trusting me to capture a little piece of your story!

I think sometimes we wait for a reason to have photos taken…

A birthday, a milestone, a new baby, everyone finally cooperating long enough to get dressed and out the door 🤣

But honestly, some of my favourite photos are the ones where there isn't really a reason at all. It's just them, exactly as they are right now

The little faces they make, the way they fit in your arms, the chubby cheeks, the missing teeth, the wild hair and all those tiny things you probably don't even realise are changing until one day they have

Because kids don't stay the same for very long!

And I think that's reason enough to photograph them 🤎

I haven't had a chance to share this yet, but a client's wedding album recently came back and I am in LOVE 😍

There is just something about seeing your photos actually printed. Don't get me wrong, I love a beautiful online gallery, but holding your wedding photos in your hands and flicking through the whole story of the day just feels different

And this one turned out SO beautifully!!

I loved putting it together and honestly can't wait to create more of these for my couples 🤎

We take sooo many photos these days, but so many of them end up living on our phones or computers and never really get seen again. Prints and albums are something you can actually keep, pull out, have sitting in your home and one day pass down

They're not just photos anymore. They're little pieces of your story that actually get to stick around

And I think that's pretty bloody special 🥹

There is something about photographing small businesses that I absolutely love 🤩

Maybe it's because I'm a small business too, but I love getting to photograph the things someone has poured so much of themselves into. The products they've made or carefully chosen, the little details, the packaging, their space, their process and all the things that make their business their own

FLAWD Candles was one of those shoots!!

Beautiful handmade products, natural textures and all those little details that make me ridiculously happy to be a photographer

And that's really what I want your branding photos to do. Not just give you a nice headshot, but actually show people what your business is about

Whether you make something with your own two hands, have a shop full of products you've carefully chosen, offer a service you're bloody good at, or you're simply the face behind it all, there's a story there, and I'd love to help you tell it…

There is no way I can pick a favourite from this trip, but what a way to end it!

This shoot gave all the vibes 🤩 and it was definitely because of these two!! Best ‘date’ night ever if you ask me, even if she may not have told him exactly what was going on 🤣

Thank you so much Cailee for an amazing trip and for restoring my faith in retreats! 🤎 I can’t wait for the next one!!

Cailee you really outdid yourself with this one 🤩 I am in love!!

I don’t think I’ve ever met two people more suited to their environment than these two!! You could say they are your modern day Jaye-n and Tarzan 🤎

They were so comfortable and blended into the jungle perfectly! More than I can say for myself 🤣 Rock climbing, especially in the pouring rain, isn’t my strong suit… but I’m so glad I did it!!

So, let me know if you’re keen to swing vines in the jungle! Or maybe just a soft hike on perfectly flat ground, that will work too! 😂

There are a few changes happening around here, so I thought it was probably time for a little update ✨

From next week, I’ll be heading back to work in Mackay two days a week for the next six months…

barefoot + ember isn’t going anywhere!! But it does mean my availability is going to look a little different for a while, especially with another pretty exciting personal project happening behind the scenes that’s going to be taking up a fair chunk of my time too

So, if you’ve been thinking about booking a session, just keep in mind that dates may be a little more limited than usual over the next six months

Completely separate to all of that, I’ve also come home from the retreat feeling ridiculously inspired and thinking a lot about the way I want my sessions to feel moving forward

And I’ve decided it’s time to change things up a little 😁

I’ve always photographed your session as a whole story, all the little moments, the in-between bits, the ones you didn’t even realise I was taking. But then I deliver your gallery and ask you to choose only part of it, and the more I think about it, the more that just doesn’t feel like me

So I’m changing it!!

I’m going to be making some changes to my sessions, the way your galleries are delivered, and my pricing to better reflect the experience I want barefoot + ember to be

I’m still working through all the little details, so I’ll share more soon. But I’m really excited about where it’s heading!

I wasn’t joking when I said I came home from the retreat with about 400 new ideas 😂

It really got me thinking about creativity again and what I want your sessions to look like

And I keep coming back to these photos!!

They were messy, chaotic and definitely not your normal Mother’s Day photos, but that’s exactly why I loved them so much!

I want your session to be fun! Get creative, go exploring, make a mess, do something you guys actually LOVE doing together

Obviously I still want to give you beautiful photos. But I also want you to have an experience worth remembering!!

So yeah… those 400 ideas might actually be happening 🤣🤎
