‼ SPRINTCARS ARE HEADING TO THE GOLDFIELDS ‼
Get ready for another gold rush in Kalgoorlie.
The Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series can confirm it is locked in for a one-night show at Kalgoorlie International Speedway on Saturday, March 21.
This will be the penultimate round of the 2025-26 series championship that will conclude at the Perth Motorplex the following weekend, Saturday, March 28.
Kalgoorlie International Speedway president Dean Shore said as word was starting to get around of a deal being done, “there was a buzz around the city”.
It’s been a long time since open sprintcar racing has been held on the Goldfields track, being in the 2011-12 season.
“Everyone is excited, it’s been a long time coming,” Shore said.
He said there was already a lot of hype about the round, with a lot of sprintcar fans in the city.
Shore said there would be an added element of seeing local driver Taylor Milling, who finished third overall in the series last year, in action on the track.
The Kalgoorlie track is about 468 metres a lap on the pole line, but there will be a few changes to the track before the series rolls into town.
Tenders are currently out for a new fence to be constructed, with work expected to start in September.
The track will be widened to 20 metres all the way around and there will be a bit more banking added.
The round will be one of the first major shows on the track when it is complete.
Shore believes the extra banking and width will allow for some great racing and the club is excited – they hope to add more marquees and corporate areas to cater for an expected big crowd.
The Kalgoorlie announcement marks the final part of the puzzle for the local sprintcar calendar.
Sprintcar Entrants Group chairman Geoff Kendrick is similarly excited about racing in Kalgoorlie as part of an expanded country racing program that also takes in Albany, Bunbury and Geraldton.
“Thank you to everyone behind the scenes at Kalgoorlie International Speedway who have put in the hard yards to make this deal work,” Kendrick said.
“It’s all part of a massive season of sprintcar racing we have planned for WA and while the final calendar is now locked in, we are still working hard to add even more value to the series before we start in Perth on Saturday, October 18.”
