If you’re comparing web designers right now, here’s what to ask:

🤍 What happens after launch, who do you call if something breaks?
🤍 Is the price actually fixed in writing, or an estimate that grows?
🤍 Who owns your domain and your account once it’s built?
🤍 Can you see their live work, not just a portfolio screenshot?

Most of it comes down to one thing… Can you reach this person after they’ve been paid?

Your Instagram is not your website.

I say this to clients all the time. Your feed is brilliant for getting people interested, but it was never built to answer the questions that get you booked.

Can someone see your prices without messaging you first?
Can they find your services without scrolling back through months of posts?
Can they book or enquire in one click?

If the answer is no, you’re relying on people to do a lot of extra work just to become your customer. And most people won’t. They’ll just move on to the next profile that makes it easy.

Social media gets them curious. Your website is what turns that curiosity into an enquiry.

Your Google Business Profile takes about 10 minutes to set up properly. Most businesses either haven’t touched theirs, or set it up years ago and forgot about it.

It’s one of the easiest things you can do to get found, and it costs nothing but time.

Why Conn Web Studio?
Because I notice the little things and with an eye for detail like mine, I’m always looking for what’s broken! Once I spot it, I’m drawn to fix it.

Honestly, when I look at a business, I go straight to their website and naturally start checking things. Email buttons linked to the wrong address, outdated info still sitting on the homepage, a PDF form from five years ago that you download, fill in by hand, and then have to repeat all over again online anyway. Staff lists that haven’t been updated, spelling errors, pages that don’t even work properly on mobile.

If I spot something major, I’ll usually say something. Most of the time though, I hesitate, because I don’t want it to come across the wrong way.

But that’s exactly why the Website Health Check exists. It gives me a proper reason to point these things out, without it feeling awkward for either of us.

A little look at a recent website refresh for flourishwithin.com.au 🐻

This wasn’t a full website rebuild. I offered to make some improvements to the existing site using custom code, while keeping the overall style and branding that was already there.

The aim was to create a bit more breathing room throughout the site, improve the layout and make it easier to navigate, particularly on mobile.

I actually really enjoy this kind of work because sometimes a business doesn’t need a brand new website. A few thoughtful changes can make a big difference to how a site feels and functions.

And because this was an update rather than a complete rebuild, it meant we could improve what was already there without starting from scratch.
