The CLASSIC ALBUM SHOW with Graeme Wykes - This Friday morning from 9 to 12 pm on 2SEA 104.7FM.

Want hear the great Radio Songs from some of the greatest albums ever made from the mid 60's through to the mid 80's then tune in to 104.7FM from 9am.

Opening with the Santana and ending with AC/DC, a morning of Deep Album Cuts from 1965-1985.

This week we have 3 hours of the best songs from the Classic Albums that we used to hear coming out of our car radios - Andy Gibb, Air Supply, Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, Lou Reed, Thin Lizzy, Deep Purple, The Rolling Stones and so much more!!!

Our featured Album of the Week is the classic from BOB SEGER & The SILVER BULLET BAND.

Night Moves is the ninth album by Bob Seger, released on October 22, 1976

Released more than 10 years into his career, Night Moves transformed Bob Seger from regional hero to national star.

Bob Seger recorded the bulk of Night Moves before Live Bullet brought him his first genuine success, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that it's similar in spirit to the introspective Beautiful Loser, even if it rocks harder and longer.

Throughout much of the album, he's coming to grips with being on the other side of 30 and still rocking. He floats back in time, turning in high-school memories, remembering when wandering down "Mainstreet" was the highlight of an evening, covering a rockabilly favorite in "Mary Lou."

Stylistically, there's not much change since Beautiful Loser, but the difference is that Seger and his Silver Bullet Band -- who turn in their first studio album here -- sound intense and ferocious, and the songs are subtly varied.

Yes, this is all hard rock, but the acoustic ballads reveal the influence of Dylan and Van Morrison, filtered through a Midwestern sensibility, and the rockers reveal more of Seger's personality than ever.

Thankfully, this was delivered to a mass audience eager for Seger, and it not only became a hit, but one of the universally acknowledged high points of late-'70s rock & roll. And, because of his passion and craft, it remains a thoroughly terrific record years later.

So tune in and enjoy listening to some songs you haven't heard in a long time, and some some you have never heard.

And don't forget - We are streaming on iHeart radio, Radio Garden, and the COMMUNITY RADIO PLUS app. for the best in nothing but Community Radio.

On this day in 1976, Queen released the single “You’re my Best Friend” (June 18)

Queen bass player John Deacon wrote the song for his wife, and also played the electric piano on the track.

Deacon revealed the reason he played electric piano instead of the group’s regular keyboard player Freddie Mercury:,

“Well, Freddie didn't like the electric piano, so I took it home and I started to learn on the electric piano and basically that's the song that came out you know when I was learning to play piano.
It was written on that instrument and it sounds best on that. You know, often on the instrument that you wrote the song on.

Freddie agreed,
“I refused to play the damn thing [the electric piano]. It's tinny and horrible and I don't like them.
Why play those things when you've got a lovely superb grand piano?
No, I think, basically what he [John] is trying to say is it was the desired effect.”

The song from “A Night At the Opera” went to #2 in Canada, #3 in Ireland, #6 in the Netherlands, #7 in the UK, and #16 on the US Billboard Hot 100.

Our featured Album of the Week is the classic from the Eagles.

HOTEL CALIFORNIA is the fifth studio album by the Eagles, released on December 8, 1976.

Recorded by the band between March and October 1976, it was the band's first album with guitarist Joe Walsh, who had replaced founding member Bernie Leadon, and the last to feature founding bassist Randy Meisner.

Hotel California was an immediate critical and commercial success, topping the US Billboard 200 chart.
At the 20th Grammy Awards, the title track won Record of the Year, and "New Kid in Town" won Best Arrangement for Voices.
The album was also nominated for Album of the Year but lost to Fleetwood Mac's Rumours (1977).

Three singles were released from the album, with the title track and "New Kid in Town" topping the Billboard Hot 100 and "Life in the Fast Lane" reaching No. 11.

Hotel California is one of the best-selling albums of all time. It has been certified 26× Platinum in the US, and has sold over 32 million units worldwide, making it the band's second best-selling album after Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975) (1976).

Ranked by various publications as one of the greatest albums of all time, it was placed at number 37 on Rolling Stone's list of the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time" in 2003.
