In 2010, I was privileged to receive a briefing from climate scientists. They stated with a great degree of certainty that tropical cyclones would become more intense and fewer in number. This is exactly what has happened. Always go with the science.

If you are thinking about growing your own food in the tropics, the papaya (red paw paw) is a great way to start. They will grow easily, and if you put them in the right space, with just a little extra food and water, they will deliver a crop like this for you.

Bob Brown spoke out against the conservative government of John Howard. He supported human rights issues, such as the struggles for independence in Tibet, East Timor and West Papua. He introduced numerous bills, including bills for constitutional reform, forest protection, greenhouse gas abatement, and banning radioactive waste dumping. It’s disappointing to see so many abandoned shopping trolleys on the streets of Cairns North and Parramatta Park. After looking into it, most appear to belong to Coles.

Let’s be clear, these trolleys are the property of the retailer, and it’s their responsibility to ensure they’re collected and not left scattered across our suburbs. If Cairns Regional Council are forced to regularly collect these it will be an additional cost we all pay in rates. That is not fair.

Residents and retailers let’s all commit to do better.
