A bit of rain has brought the fungi out. These first two are wood chip fungi, Red wood chip fungi and Conical Brittlestem. They are breaking down the mulch allowing the nutrients to be available for the plants. The third is a beaked Earth star, Geastrum tenuipes.

100th Anniversary of Memorial Arch at Bendigo Botanic Gardens
Ceremony to be held on site 11am Friday 23rd May 2025.
The original unveiling took place on Saturday afternoon the 23rd of May 1925. The majority of White Hills residents attended, as well as Bendigo citizens, Returned Soldiers and Sailors of the Imperialist League of Australia, the Soldiers and Sailors Fathers Association, District Parliamentarians and Members of the Bendigo City Council.
Mr. F. Benson, Chairman of the White Hills Memorial Association, extended thanks to the people of White Hills and formally committed the arch to the care of the Bendigo City Council

Protecting, promoting and restoring Bendigo’s historic gardens
The Friends Committee meet monthly at the Samuel Gadd Centre at the Bendigo Botanic Gardens, White hills at 2.30pm every 3rd Tuesday of the month.
The ‘Growing Friends Group’ meets at the Samuel Gadd Centre weekly from 9.30 am –11.30 am on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month and the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month.
Plants are propagated by the Growing Friends Group for sale, and for the gardens themselves. General gardening work is also undertaken with guidance by the gardens staff.
The Botanical Illustration Group meets twice a week at the Samuel Gadd Centre on Saturdays from 9.30am-3pm and Wednesdays 9.30 am-12 midday.
The Friends are also involved in guided walks and tours of the garden, plant sales, excursions, research into Bendigo’s historic gardens, promoting and advocating for the garden, and editing and publishing the Friends magazine ‘Dovyalis’. Dovyalis refers to the famous tree in the garden, Dovyalis caffra, the Kei Apple which also features in the Friends logo.
