Via Eumundi Wildlife Centre: Our towel cupboards are starting to look a bit bare. If you’re cleaning out your towels we’d love your old towels and hand towels please! We don’t need any other linen just towels and hand towels, thank you. 🐨🦘🦜🦉🐦‍⬛

Its our 5th Birthday - doesn’t time fly by!!
Our Birthday Celebrations and Swap will be on Thursday 29 May.
Where: Eumundi Community Garden - 38 Memorial Drive
Time: set up of swap goodies from 10am
Around 10.15am the swap will start. Just walk around and take what you like.
What to bring: excess fruit and veges, food related plants, cuttings and seeds, empty pots, jars, gardening and cooking books, old garden tools…
All are welcome and if you don’t think you have anything to share that’s okay too - come share some garden tips or a favourite recipe.
Bring a wrapped present along, preferably one that is homemade. recycled, upcycled... this is optional.
For those who want to stay on after the swap we will be having a shared lunch so bring a plate of something along. also bring a chair and a cup and your own beverage of choice.
Hope to see you there to celebrate this milestone - going from about 12 people at the first swap in 2020 to now having over 1200 plus online members, Thanks everyone for being part of this ‘growing’ community.

Coastal Hazard Warning
for ABNORMALLY HIGH TIDES and DAMAGING

For people in parts of Wide Bay and Burnett and Southeast Coast Forecast Districts.

Issued at 5:02 pm Friday, 28 February 2025.

Abnormally high tides and Damaging surf along the southeast Queensland coast
Weather Situation: Severe Tropical is moving south through the Coral Sea generating large and powerful easterly waves. These waves will combine with spring tides from Saturday to produce abnormally high tides and severe beach erosion for southern Queensland. Large waves are expected to persist for several days as Alfred remains in the southern Coral Sea.

Water levels on the high tide could exceed the highest tide of the year by around half a metre Saturday morning between Seventeen Seventy to Burnett Heads and Sandy Cape to Coolangatta. This could lead to minor flooding of the foreshore and coastal erosion.

Damaging surf conditions which may lead to significant beach erosion and are likely to develop between Sandy Cape and Rainbow Beach from Saturday morning, extending further south to by Saturday evening. Damaging surf may also extend into Sunday and affect coastlines further south depending on the movement of Severe TC .

A Hazardous surf warning is also current for Capricornia, K’gari, Sunshine and Gold Coast waters www.bom.gov.au/qld/warnings/hazardoussurf.shtml

Locations which may be affected include , , , , Heads, , ’gari, lSeventy.

Emergency services advise people to:
* Know your limitations around beaches, tidal rivers and creeks. Adhere to warning from lifesavers and lifeguards .
* If you have a boat or water craft, haul out if possible or check your moorings are secure.
* If you have children make sure they are within arm’s reach around the water.

The next Coastal Hazard Warning will be issued by 11:00 pm AEST Friday.
