I wanted to share something personal today.

A dear Jewish friend of mine has a father who survived the Holocaust. His first wife and infant son were murdered by the N***s simply because they were Jewish. After the war, he came to Australia with nothing but hope and determination, rebuilt his life, and created a new family in the country he believed would be safe.
My friend is a daughter from that second marriage.

Last night, after the tragic events in Bondi, I reached out to my friend with love and sympathy for her community. Like so many, I’ve been feeling helpless and heartbroken.

She replied with a story from a recent hospital stay where she was having minor surgery. A nurse, seemingly prompted only by my friend's Jewish surname, randomly asked her for her opinion on “what Israel is doing to Palestine.”
My friend was a little taken aback, but began to answer calmly. Before she could finish, the nurse suddenly started yelling at her, told her she didn’t want to hear anything she had to say, and stormed out of the room.
My friend was left shaken ... literally trembling.

The nurse later returned, apologised, and offered to have someone else care for her if she wanted. My friend declined, not wanting to get her into trouble, especially knowing she was a single mum doing her best.

My friend lives in Victoria and has faced repeated antisemitic incidents over the last few years ... most especially after 7th October, 2023.

She is genuinely fearful ... not just for herself, but for her whole community. And hearing her story made me realise how easy it is for those of us outside of these communities to not fully understand how real and constant this fear can be.

Have we forgotten the horrors people once endured during the Holocaust ... horrors that should have taught us to reject hatred in all its forms?

Heartbreakingly, one of the victims of the Bondi attack was himself a Holocaust survivor. To survive that, only to lose his life here, on our shores, is deeply distressing and incomprehensible.

My heart is incredibly heavy today. I am grieving for the people whose lives were taken, for the fear that has spread through our communities, and for the sense of safety that feels suddenly shaken.

It is a dark and painful moment for Australia, and I hope we can find our way back to compassion, understanding, and unity.

⚠Warning Long Post ... but worth a read!

With AI seemingly taking over the world, it's also getting used more and more which can make spotting it more and more easier.

There are a few little indicators that something is written by AI and not by a hooman ... my use of the word hooman in this sentence can be a prime example of one of them lol.

If you are questioning if it's really real, here are a few things to look for 👇

📌The biggest tell tale sign for me is the overuse of unnecessary punctuation ... especially semicolons ... like who TF really uses semi colons in their written text anymore? I'm sure there are a few old-school grammar fanatics around (like my Mother), but the general use of semi colons has suddenly started to re-emerge, and I highly doubt this is because people are all of a sudden interested in fanatical grammar 🤓

📌Humans will generally use short sentences, then long sentences. AI generated text will be too balanced, too tidy ... not random enough. It is overly correct, which doesn't follow the general thought pattern of a human brain and how a human translates that into written text.

📌Saying the same thing in three different ways is another one. AI will swing towards reinforcing a point multiple times to fill out and balance the sentence proportion that I mention in the point above 👆

📌AI will also use an overly positive and enthusiastic tone, even when the topic doesn't need it ... fake AF really IMO ... and it is glaringly obvious. Lots of words like “empower,” “reflection,” “enhance,” “transform.”
Humans usually don’t write like polished, professional motivational speakers .. and yes I deliberately used the correct punctuation on those words, as I know my dear old Mum will read this post and bomb me for it 🤣 In fact, AI written text will often sound like an over excited used vacuum cleaner salesman.

📌AI written text likes to give the illusion of someone speaking confidently, but in fact, sometimes it has absolutely no real substance or point 🤔 I know we have all seen those ... like thank you very much for wasting 2 minutes of my life reading this s**t and it tells me nothing. A text example of this might be:
“This strategy leads to long-term success.”
… ok cool, but how?

📌Zero personality is anther biggie for me. Clean paragraphs and a tidy structure is very evident in AI written text. The text will be very obviously lacking genuine emotion, humour or genuine personal insight into the writers personality. AI can’t tell you what something felt like, only what it knows about the topic.

📌Human generated text will almost always show quirky little endearments ... usually considered by AI as 'imperfections'. The odd typo or misspelling. AI will never generate text with quirky little endearments, ever.

There is no doubt that AI can be a powerful tool - but if you are a little astute (which most of us are) you can usually 'feel' when something was written without a human voice behind it - so if you are using AI, never be fooled into thinking you're fooling people 😉

You can fool some of the people some of the time, but you can never fool all of the people all of the time ... one of my favourite quotes.

Authenticity will always stands out.
Humans connect with humans, it's really that simple.

It means so much to be appreciated, especially in such a thoughtful and personal way. This gift is extra special because it was created by one local business owner and gifted by another local business colleague - a perfect example of locals supporting locals.

This candle wasn’t just a gift - it was intentional.
A stunning black and gold glass jar was especially sourced to perfectly match my branding, and a custom scent was created just for me using my favourite fragrances. The thought, care and detail behind it honestly blew me away.

Feeling very grateful to be surrounded by such supportive and generous people in our business community.

This statue is foundly known by us as "Soldier Bill" and he serves as a daily visual reminder of all those that have served and continue to serve the people of our nation.

⚠️Reader Warning … mushy, squishy, feely post following 😂

Last day today on my beautiful river … the mighty Clarence.

We have been here a month now & we head home to Logan tomorrow … I know a few of my clients are happy about that and will have me running double time Lol

I am so grateful that my job allows me to work remotely in these beautiful locations - but I’m equally grateful to return home to our beautiful home in an amazing community and to be embraced by the epic people in my life.

I really do live a blessed life …
