Gina has worked extensively in front-line business management for over 20 years. Executive and GM roles in the Tourism and Business Development sectors have allowed her to develop a sound knowledge of successful business management practices, including effective marketing and promotion. In 2018, Gina combined her passion for promoting and supporting small business, and established Obsidian Marketi
ng Solutions and ventured into the Digital Marketing Space as a professional Facebook Strategist. Gina honed and developed her organic social media strategies and applied them across the various industries of Obsidian’s client base, managing diverse business pages such as plumbing, electrical, earthmoving, real estate sales, skincare products, concreting, fencing, property management, the legal industry, bookkeeping … even a political campaign! The results have been very successful for her clients and her business continues to grow:
“I felt there was a need for small business to access affordable marketing solutions, that actually WORK. I had heard SO many nasty stories about small businesses being promised lots of things and taken for lots of money by professional marketing people, with very little or no return for the business. I felt there were too many ‘professionals’ in the marketing industry taking shameful advantage of small business owners’ lack of marketing knowledge. Selling them an awesome sales pitch with lots of marketing buzz words, and making lots of unrealistic promises that were simply designed to make the marketing company profit, not support the said small business. I am very familiar with 'bottom lines' and fully understand that small business needs value for money for their marketing investment, not empty promises.”
Along with page management, Gina also conducts small group workshops and provides affordable one-on-one mentoring options for small businesses wanting to manage their own social media. She has successfully helped many, many businesses take control of their own marketing, with a strong focus on brand awareness and long-term organic strategies to build a genuine audience:
“I could see there was a massive gap in the Social Media Marketing Industry, which seems to primarily focus on ‘paid strategies’ (Facebook ads, sponsored posts, Google ad words etc). ORGANIC strategies, however, are an incredibly successful way of building genuine audiences that turn into customers who stick around for the long term. This is crucial for repeat business and on-going referrals needed for long-term sustainability of small local businesses. I identified that there is also a lack of quality education/training available for those businesses wanting to learn the organic strategies. Many ‘social media workshops’ will offer the attendee only enough to get them to sign up for something and seem to serve more as a sales platform for the marketing company, than as a learning opportunity for the attendee.”
Gina has a unique ‘straight-talking’ approach to her marketing that her clients respond well to, and she is very results-focused for her clients’ businesses, so a great outcome is achieved by everyone.

We recently visited the Sarina region and were absolutely blown away ... omg what an underrated gem! 🌴
We stayed at the Cape Palmerston Holiday Park and loved it so much we just kept extending our stay. It’s peaceful, relaxed, and surrounded by some of the most spectacular beaches I’ve ever seen ... without the crowds or chaos of the usual tourist spots.
Honestly, I was surprised by how much there is to see and do here. Most of the tourism buzz is all about Mackay or Airlie Beach, but Sarina quietly holds its own with natural beauty, rich history, and down-to-earth local charm.
I have put together this video of a few highlights from our stay in the region ... in addition to the feature video I did of Cape Palmerston Holiday Park itself (check my page for this if you haven't seen it! Obsidian Marketing Solutions)
Of particular mention is the Sarina Sugar Shed! An absolute must-do if you’re in the area! It celebrates the region’s sugar cane heritage while showcasing some amazing local home-made produce and products + cafe, guided tours and boutique distillery.
The pride the locals have in their sugar roots is something special to see ... and experience ...
If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway with stunning surrounds, real history, great fishing spots and a welcoming community - do yourself a favour and discover Sarina.

Sometimes you’ve got to press pause and soak up the places that inspire you.
I took a well-earned day off today to play tourist around Sarina in North Queensland ... and wow, what a stunning part of the world.
Of course, I took my drone with me ... and I was lucky enough to score these shots over the Sarina Sugar Mill. CHECK-IT-OUT!!!!
The overcast skies gave me some absolute cracker natural lighting ... soft and moody, with perfect colour contrast between the bold mill structures and the mountain backdrop.
While we were there, we also checked out the Sarina Sugar Shed ... of course we did!! Highly recommend if you’re ever passing through!
The food at the licenced café was definitely the goods (their ginger beer with lunch especially hit the spot), and everything’s made onsite with local ingredients. Craft-distilled rum and liqueurs , handmade ice-creams, sauces, chutneys and more!
They do hands-on tours that walk you through how sugarcane is grown and crushed, using really cool miniature mill gear and run by locals who really know their stuff and are passionate about the area.
We also checked out the Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal at Hay Point and Grass Tree Beach today too ... Stay tuned for more on these!

📍Cape Palmerston Holiday Park, Ilbilbie QLD 4738
Tucked away just 90km south of Mackay, this place is for those chasing sunshine and stillness ... and this is what wintering in north Queensland is all about.
Set on 63 acres beside a secluded stretch of beach and backed by open grasslands and views to Mt Funnel, Cape Palmerston Holiday Park is a true coastal escape.
Kangaroos on the move, birds in the trees, and barely a sound but the sea breeze ... oh and the muscovy ducks are pretty cute too!
Spacious drive-through sites, plenty of room to breathe, and all just 10 minutes off the Bruce Hwy at Ilbilbie.
This park was purpose-built for caravanners. So whatever your rig ... bring your setup and soak up the serenity ... I dare ya to not love it!!!

🎣 Molongle Beach Caravan Park – Gumlu, QLD 4805
About 70 km north of Bowen, this is one of those spots you’d never find unless someone told you about it.
Simple, quiet, and right near the water - perfect for fishing, relaxing and chilling for a while.
The park has everything you need ... powered and unpowered sites, cabins, a camp kitchen, laundry, boat ramps and a licenced café that opens most weekends. It's no-frills, but it's clean, tidy and run by good people.
*Disclaimer: Obsidian Marketing Solutions has no affiliation with the park owners or managers. We stayed at Molongle Beach Caravan Park and paid full price for our site, meals, drinks and even Johnny's fishing shirt.
No freebies, no sponsorship, just a genuinely great spot we reckon more people should know about.
📍 If you’re heading through North Queensland and want a peaceful base away from the crowds, this one’s worth checking out.

📍 Paluma National Park, North Queensland
Hidden deep in the rainforest ranges about 85km north of Townsville, this swimming hole in Paluma is something else.
Surrounded by ancient trees and crystal-clear water, it's the kind of place that makes you stop, breathe, and just take it all in.
I captured this footage on a warm winter afternoon with the drone -showcasing the natural stillness and raw beauty of one of North Queensland’s most underrated gems.
Storytelling through visuals is powerful, especially when it helps connect people to places like this.

📽Captured yesterday afternoon at 3:30pm - a stunning blanket of sea fog still hugging the coastline long after it rolled in this morning.
It’s something I’ve never seen before ... and from speaking with others in the caravan park we are staying at, not many others have either!
A warm 25-degree day, blue skies inland, blue skies out to sea… but yet, this surreal fog lingered along the shore like a scene out of a dream.
Nature’s full of surprises, and yesterday she sure put on a show.

Just live your best life …
📷 Photo taken by Johnny today on a remote beach at Cape Palmerston, about 65km south of Mackay Qld.
No make up, no shoes & best of all, no shapewear un**es!!
Two years ago, I would have never imagined actually living this lifestyle … travelling and working remotely… Frolicking in stunning tropical Queensland over the winter months, yet here I am.
After some massive personal upheavals, which at first were pretty adversarial on our lives … we decided to change gears, indicated left … and turned the corner down a different road.
One of those ride or die moments … you know … go hard or go home.
I went hard (so predictable I know) 😂
We turned adversity into opportunity. We pivoted our perspective to see things differently … and at 56 & 59 years old, I was determined to create a new normal.
I had no idea if it would work or not, but there was an opportunity to do this, and I was running straight at it.
Head gear & mouthguard on 🥊
I was going up give it a red hot go 🔥
But … I wouldn’t have been able to do this without the support of my amazing stable of clients. You guys are just freaking awesome. I am so grateful for your love and encouragement.
Thank you Obsidian tribe 🙏 Every one of you 🫶
