As a not-for-profit community broadcaster, we have been reliably pumping out alternative music, news and culture since we began as the official student radio at the University of Queensland in 1975. Four and a half decades and plenty of history later, we’re broadcasting from Barry Parade in Fortitude Valley, connecting and amplifying the voices of our community across south-east Queensland and str

eaming throughout the world. Whether it's music, arts, LGBTQIA+, First Nations or local issues, we endeavour to empower local communities through community broadcasting. We are run by a small team of paid and volunteer staff, governed by the 4ZZZ Board of Directors and like many community radio stations, powered by volunteers. From the voices you hear on the radio, to the people who process your CDs or run events with our name on it, everyone at 4ZZZ loves what they do. You’ll hear it when you tune into 102.1FM or listen to our digital channel Zed Digital on your DAB radio, both available to stream online.

We're opening our shop this Saturday, the 20th December, from 10AM - 2PM. It's your final chance to get 4ZZZ merchandise before Christmas, and our awesome reception team will be there to help you out. We'll also have Anthony The Accountant from Ballzzz In The Air cooking up a sausage sizzle for a gold coin donation.

The final countdown for 2025, it's the most played artists of the year! Our stats wizard, the king of deadpan, and trash pop sympathiser in chief, Nick Jones has crunched the numbers to reveal what our announcers couldn't get enough of throughout 2025.

The Top 20 and Album of the Week will be going on well earned break until January.
A huge thank you to Nick for compiling the countdown every week, and the Album of the Week Committee for their hard work throughout the year!

Listen in to Jimmy on Culture Vulturez on 4ZZZ on Monday December 22 from 9am to hear some fun and inspiring audio from the 2025 4ZZZ Pass the Mic First Nations training held at Triple A & 4ZZZ.
The training included script writing, editing, podcasting and advanced presentation and was delivered by Kirstyn Lindsay and Tabatha Saunders.

4ZZZ looks forward to hearing more from these new and emerging broadcasters and we are pleased they've joined the Zed community.
