We are thrilled to officially present the Top 6 Finalists for Northern Cape Starlet.
This announcement is long delayed, but we had to put the project on hold for the entirety of 2023 because of financial constraints. These young women have put forth a lot of effort to fulfill their Starlet dreams. Despite financial difficulties, Evelyn Maruping, the originator of Starlet, felt it was appropriate to carry out the last two phases. Under no circumstances will we take away the hope that this project offers to young, aspiring actresses, as Starlet is a platform of hopes and ambitions. We plan to run the project with the Starlets while we wait for additional funds. Some of our team members who put in a lot of work on the project are still owed money by the project, but we will make sure they get paid as soon as we get more financing.
To that end, we express our gratitude to the Department of Sports, Arts & Culture for providing funds for the initial three phases. Our Starlets had the opportunity to participate in media training, acting boothcamps, met television stars in Cape Town as part of our industry exposure tour, and performed in boothcamp challenges alongside actors Arno Greef from Blood and Water and Theodore Jantjies well known for his role as Xander Meintjies from 7 De Laan. TV celebrities, including Hlomla Dandala, Jolene Martin, Theodore Jantjies, Arno Greef, Stephanie Baartman, Charmone Blennies, Robyn Rossouw, Anthony Moipolai former AFDA Head of Television and lecturer, and Justin Strydom were among those that trained and mentored the Starlets.
The show's host was the stunning and talented Charmone Blennies.
