Our love and thoughts are with family and friends of Ted Snell who passed away on Monday. Becoming friends with Ted has taught me many things that I will carry with me and pass to others if I can. He directly and indirectly taught me things about art, about relationships and love, about the beauty in the everyday and the fun in being curious and playful. He listened. He contributed. He could write so bloody well and was such a brilliant public speaker and presenter. It was a marvel. Ted’s passion, commitment and drive effected so much in the arts industry and community in this country. He is a treasure to WA, to Perth, to friends, to family and especially to his adoring wife Mary. The privilege we often have as documentary and TV makers is to spend time with truly exceptional people. The making of the Walking Man documentary with Ted really was such a fantastic experience he was so brilliant to work with and through it we became friends as did director Luna Laure and the production team. We talked about many more projects we could do together over a glass of chardy or two. One we had cheekily titled ‘The World According To Ted’ because he had such a lovely view of the world around him and to capture that we thought would be amazing. He noticed things. Art is everywhere. He supported people and lifted them up. He loved. We didn’t know we would run out of time. What a fantastic example Ted was to us all. What a brilliant man to look up to. We will carry that with us. The beauty will always shine on through. Sincerely - Brendan
