Congratulations to all the nominees for the WA Screen Culture Awards 2024. VAM Media has received five in total for the short documentary series of online videos produced for The Art Gallery of Western Australia - AGWA on two important and impactful artists and their exhibitions and story. Yhonnie Scarce: Light of Day has been nominated in three categories and Time - RONE in two! Both projects were such awesome collaborations between the production teams, the artists and the AGWA team. For us it underlines the power of art and the importance of sharing these stories in really creative, interesting, revealing and honest ways. Cheers to all involved, thanks to Revelation Film Festival and the WA Screen Culture Awards and we hope everyone has an awesome time at the event on December 1. One year ago today, OCTOBER 5 2022, the amazing Disney+ launched 6 part docuseries SHIPWRECK HUNTERS AUSTRALIA produced by VAM Media together with Terra Australis and Barking Mad Productions with support from Screen Australia, Screenwest, the WA Regional Screen Fund and WA Museum Boola Bardip we

We have been overwhelmed by the response from people across Australia and around the world. We still get messages daily from people telling us how much they love the series and even the odd treasure map is sent to the team by junior shipwreck hunters who imagine their own adventures at sea! We love that. :)

You can watch the series again and again on Disney+ and we are so stoked that the teams adventures have connected with such a broad audience. Over the next week we are going to share some behind the scenes bits and pieces to celebrate one year on platform with the amazing Disney+ and going strong!!! Here's to ye' me hearties!!! Enjoy the series trailer posted here.

Our love and thoughts are with family and friends of Ted Snell who passed away on Monday. Becoming friends with Ted has taught me many things that I will carry with me and pass to others if I can. He directly and indirectly taught me things about art, about relationships and love, about the beauty in the everyday and the fun in being curious and playful. He listened. He contributed. He could write so bloody well and was such a brilliant public speaker and presenter. It was a marvel. Ted’s passion, commitment and drive effected so much in the arts industry and community in this country. He is a treasure to WA, to Perth, to friends, to family and especially to his adoring wife Mary. The privilege we often have as documentary and TV makers is to spend time with truly exceptional people. The making of the Walking Man documentary with Ted really was such a fantastic experience he was so brilliant to work with and through it we became friends as did director Luna Laure and the production team. We talked about many more projects we could do together over a glass of chardy or two. One we had cheekily titled ‘The World According To Ted’ because he had such a lovely view of the world around him and to capture that we thought would be amazing. He noticed things. Art is everywhere. He supported people and lifted them up. He loved. We didn’t know we would run out of time. What a fantastic example Ted was to us all. What a brilliant man to look up to. We will carry that with us. The beauty will always shine on through. Sincerely - Brendan
