🔥 Bushfire Advice - RETURN WITH CAUTION - WAGGRAKINE and MORESBY 🔥

The fire is now stationary. All roads have been reopened. Evacuation centres at QEII Seniors and Community Centre and Northam Recreation Centre have been closed. Please see changes throughout the warning.
⚠️ A Bushfire Advice is in place for people bounded by Spalding Park Golf Course, Mary Street, Collins Road, Sutcliffe Road and Nerrel Street in WAGGRAKINE and MORESBY in the CITY OF GREATER GERALDTON.
⚠️ The alert level for this fire has been downgraded as fire activity has decreased.
⚠️ There is no threat to lives or homes.
❗ WHAT TO DO ❗
- Continue to stay alert and monitor your surroundings.
- Watch for signs of a bushfire, especially smoke and flames.
- Be aware of other potential dangers such as falling trees and damaged properties and infrastructure.
- Close all doors and windows and stay inside if smoke is causing you concern
If driving
- Turn your headlights on and drive slowly.
- Watch for emergency services personnel and follow their directions.
- If you cannot see clearly, pull over, keep your headlights and hazard lights on, and wait until the smoke clears.
- If you have a respiratory condition and you have been affected by smoke you should contact your local doctor or call Health Direct on 1800 022 222.

⚠️ A Bushfire Advice is in place for people bounded by Chapman Road, Spalding Park Golf Course, Green Street and Longva Road in BLUFF POINT, SPALDING and SUNSET BEACH in the CITY OF GREATER GERALDTON.
⚠️ The alert level for this fire has been downgraded as fire activity has decreased.

- Stay alert and monitor your surroundings.

⚠️ A Bushfire Advice is in place for people in an area bounded by the coastline, Fuller Street, Charles Street, Chapman Road and Bosley Street in BLUFF POINT and SUNSET BEACH in the CITY OF GREATER GERALDTON.
⚠️ The alert level for this fire has been downgraded as fire activity has decreased.
⚠️ There is no threat to lives or homes.
🏠 SAFER PLACE 🏠
The Department of Communities has closed the evacuation centres:
- QEII Seniors and Community Centre, 88 Durlacher Street, Geraldton.
- Northampton Recreation Centre, 52 Harvey Road, Northampton.
⚡ POWER ⚡
Western Power has advised power supply to around 600 homes and businesses has been affected by the bushfire. Suburbs affected include Waggrakine.
Western Powers network operations centre has backfed power supply where possible and safe to do so. Some customers won't be able to be restored until the fire has passed and repairs and restoration to damaged assets can commence.
🚫 SCHOOLS 🚫
The Department of Education and Catholic Education WA have advised the following schools are closed on Monday 1 December:
- Waggrakine Primary School
- Walkaway Primary School
- Northampton District High School

🐮 ANIMAL WELFARE 🐮
Owners or carers of livestock, pets and companion animals should activate their own animal welfare plan. During a bushfire take advice from Local Government Authorities to protect the lives of your animals while keeping yourself safe.

🔥 BUSHFIRE BEHAVIOUR 🔥
- The bushfire is stationary.
- There is a Total Fire Ban in place all day in City of Greater Geraldton. For more information on what you can and can't do, check Emergency WA.
- There is a Harvest and Vehicle Movement Ban in the City of Greater Geraldton from 7am until 2pm. For more information contact the City of Greater Geraldton.
- Today's Fire Danger Rating in the area of the bushfire is extreme. This means fires will spread quickly and be extremely dangerous.
🚧 ROAD CLOSURES AND CONDITIONS 🚧
All roads have been reopened.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area, find alternative routes, reduce speed, drive carefully and follow the direction of Emergency Service Personnel. Road information may also be available from Main Roads WA by visiting the Main Roads Travel Map, calling 138 138 or by contacting your Local Government Authority.
🚨 WHAT FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING 🚨
- Firefighters are actively fighting the fire.
- Bush Fire Service, Career Fire and Rescue Service, Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service, Volunteer Fire and Emergency Service and Parks and Wildlife Service firefighters are in attendance.
- State Emergency Service volunteers are also assisting.
- Additional firefighting crews and incident management team personnel are on their way from Perth.
- Aerial support has been sent to assist ground crews.
DFES is receiving support from a number of agencies including St John Ambulance, WA Police, Western Power, Main Roads and WA Country Health Service.
🚁 DRONES AND AERIAL SUPPORT 🚁
Never fly a drone, model aircraft or multirotor near bushfires. Doing so poses a major safety risk to firefighting personnel in the air and on the ground, and forces aircraft to be grounded or redirected, hindering firefighting efforts.
