Great to have Gavin and Steven in the studio chatting about the launch of Ochre Ribbon Week, kicking off today.

This week is an important time for our community to come together, raising awareness of family and domestic violence and committing to play our part in preventing it.

Be part of the change by joining us at Rocks Laneway for the launch. We would love to see you there.

As proud signatories to the Community, Respect & Equality (CRE) initiative, we’re committed to helping prevent violence against women in our community. That’s why we’re standing firmly behind the campaign.

We’re turning our platforms orange and shining a spotlight on the many incredible events happening across Geraldton. We encourage you to get along to one (or more!) of these events — but even more importantly, to by starting those meaningful conversations that help drive change.

We can only create a safer, more respectful community when we work together. 🧡

🧡 Geraldton Events Calendar – 16 Days in WA
🧡 25 November – 10 December 2025

Geraldton's 16 Days in WA events calendar is full of community events, workshops and activities all created to bring people together and spark real conversations about respect, equality and safety in Geraldton.

We’d love to see as many people as possible come along. Every event is an opportunity to connect, learn something new, and show that as a community, we’re standing up against family and domestic violence. Your presence really does make a difference.

Whether you join in for one event or a few, wear orange to show your support, chat with your kids about respect, or simply call out harmful behaviour when you see it, it all helps build a safer community for everyone.

16 Days in WA is a statewide campaign that runs from 25 November to 10 December. It’s a time to raise awareness, take action, and recognise the organisations and people working every day to support women and families.

Take a look at the events calendar and come along. We’d love to see you there!

We recently caught up with Che Cockatoo-Collins to yarn about why bowel screening is so important for our mob.
We need to look after ourselves — so we can keep looking after our families. 💪

Coercive control – it’s not our story

Aboriginal culture is strong with stories, but this story is not part of us.

When he gets jealous a lot and makes you feel shame, over and over, it’s called coercive control and it’s not part of our culture.

This campaign was created with Aboriginal people, for Aboriginal people, using cultural storytelling practices at the heart.

It was great to catch up with Che Cockatoo-Collins recently — not to talk footy this time, but about the importance of bowel screening.
While there were plenty of laughs, Che summed it up perfectly:
👉 “Just go and do it.”
Simple, important advice that could save a life.

💛 Dianne recently caught up with Aunty Jill Gallagher for a yarn about the importance of bowel screening.
Bowel cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting our mob — but early detection means it can often be successfully treated.
If you’re aged 50 to 74, keep an eye out for your free test kit in the mail and get it done.
Have a listen for some good advice from Aunty Jill. 👇🏾
