This is what Australia is missing in the publishing industry a focus on graphic novels and comics in schools, libraries and most importantly in shops like Big W, QBD books etc. This article makes a great case for how graphic novels and comics can improve reading, that comics are not just superhero stories and the benefits of reading comics and graphic novels can have a long-lasting affect.

Sales of graphic novels have doubled over the past five years, to some parents' dismay. But data shows these books can have a positive lifelong impact on young readers.
