Gladstone’s Chinatown Restaurant was the venue for a feast of all-you-can-eat Asian delights, and on Saturday, 26 July, there was something else on the menu – a wedding that sealed a love story spanning more than two decades.
Allan Bassett married his long-time partner Marysha Pilkington at the annual luncheon of the Gladstone branch of the Queensland Retired Police Association.

Rio Tinto and the Queensland Rugby Union teamed up to bring elite rugby to Gladstone, as part of their long-standing partnership to support sport, education, and community development in regional Queensland.

On 30 July, primary students at Tannum Sands State School took part in a special rugby clinic and Q and A session with Queensland Reds players and coaches. The event was designed to inspire the next generation of athletes and leaders, while reinforcing the importance of teamwork, resilience, and community connection.

Students from grades three to six had the opportunity to participate in hands-on drills and ask questions during a Q and A session......

A new Dignity Vending Machine has been installed at Booth’s Food Kingdom in Gladstone, one of the Salvation Army’s local food centres, providing free access to essential period care products for those in need.
The initiative is part of Share the Dignity’s national campaign, supported by Woolworths, which is donating five cents from every period care item sold throughout August to fund the installation and maintenance of these machines.

Established in 1965, before Agnes Water became a tourist hotspot, the club’s story is deeply embedded in the people who helped shape it, from the first surfers who discovered the untouched breaks off the Agnes coast to those who kept the community together through the years.
