Founded in 1923, the Glen Innes branch of the Country Women’s Association has been supporting local women and families for more than a century — and it’s still going strong. The branch is now keen to welcome new members. “It would be really great to increase the number of members,” said Secretary Catherine Donald. “We’d love to meet women new to Glen Innes who…...

This festival followed a Gala Festival which ran from 1944 to 1955. The new event had a shaky start - the first Public Meeting called by Mayor Bill Wilson on 10th February 1956 attracting only five interested citizens, Town Clerk and three aldermen....

Congratulations to Glen Innes Bookworld Inc which is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Bookworld is a religious bookstore established in 2005 by a non-denominational committee of Christian churches looking for ways to maintain the influence of Christian teachings in the community, particularly seeking ways to reach young people who were drifting away from church attendance. Reflecting the shop’s original purpose, the major beneficiaries of Bookworld’s income are children and young people. It helps fund a high school chaplaincy program as well as Special Religious Education classes for children in Kindergarten to Year 6 in Glen Innes and some village schools....

Before we explore the story... something to ponder: Can men get breast cancer? When we moved to Glen Innes 3 and a half years ago, I was employed to work remotely. This meant my interaction with the town was very minimal and as a newcomer it's difficult to interact when working from home 5 days with long hours. Reaching out to the community via the town social pages, my husband and I were looking to connect with other newcomers or any interested in meeting new people. The initial event consisted of 8 women, some locals born and bred in town and predominately newcomers averaging around 2- 3 years since moving to this lovely town....
