Massive shoutout to the Glenlyon crew – called out after dark the other day to help Hepburn, Daylesford, and Musk firies tackle an out-of-control burnoff that sparked up trees and scrub! πŸ”₯

Still weirdly dry out there, even in winter. The team crushed it – not every night you’re back at the station after midnight, freezing your arse off, scrubbing down after a bushfire. πŸ₯Ά Good on ’em!

Glenlyon Rural Fire Brigade, alongside Daylesford Fire Brigade, responded to a serious road accident on Thursday on Daylesford-Malmsbury Road in Wheatsheaf.

A vehicle had crashed into a tree, and the crews worked alongside Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria paramedics, and Air Ambulance (HEMS) to carefully handle the patient.

Glenlyon Rural Fire Brigade expressed thanks to all first responders for their support and to road users for their patience during the emergency operations.

A fast-moving grass fire broke out in Denver, between Daylesford and Malmsbury, this morning after a burn-off got out of hand – putting nearby bushland and at least one building at risk.

Crews from the Glenlyon, Spring Hill, Porcupine Ridge, Malmsbury, Tylden and Trentham fire brigades jumped into action and thankfully knocked it down before it could do serious damage.

Roughly two hectares were scorched before it was brought under control – another stark reminder that dry conditions can turn a backyard burn into a full-blown emergency real quick!

Massive shoutout to all the brigades who got stuck in and handled it like pros. Good on 'em!

This 2.5 metre high reflective stainless-steel sculpture, celebrating the beauty of nature and our relationship to water, was installed last year at Glenlyon Dam. πŸ—Ώ

Hepburn Shire Council has installed a new public art sculpture at Glenlyon Dam, celebrating the beauty of nature and our relationship to water.

The 2.5 metre high reflective stainless-steel sculpture – by artist Yu Fang Chi – is in the form of a giant water droplet, which alludes to the water element of the dam environment.

"This piece fits so beautifully in the landscape," said Mayor Brian Hood. "It reflects the surrounding area and is placed where it is visible right across Glenlyon Dam."
