CULINARY STARS, where JW Marriott shows off its own culinary stars, is one of our favourite events. It's coming up again, with four exciting dinners to add to your November calendar. Here are the details:
EVENT: Culinary Stars – Four themed dinners
WHERE: JW Marriott Gold Coast resort & Spa, Citrique Restaurant
WHEN: Monday 10 November – Thursday 13 November

Returning for its fourth consecutive year, JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa is hosting its flagship culinary showcase, Culinary Stars. The four-night series will highlight JW Marriott’s globally renowned culinary excellence with leading chefs from around the world drawing on inspiration from four fundamentals: Root, leaf, flower, and fruit.

Inspired by culinary expertise from New Zealand, Asia, Australia and Europe, this showcase is inspired by expression of flavours from chefs; Wallace Mua, Executive Chef at JW Marriott Auckland; Mehmet Faruk Yardimci, Executive Chef at JW Marriott Istanbul Marmara Sea; and James Paul Lorenzo, Chef de Cuisine at JW Marriott Hanoi, alongside JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa’s own Executive Chef, Paul Smart, and rising stars; Seiko Kobayashi, Mayukh Mazumdar, Yigu Kang, Selva Gopalakrishna, Joseph Raj, and Emir Kusbeci.

The showcase begins on Monday with a nod to the concept of ‘Root’ the chefs have created a six-course menu inspired by JW Marriott’s origins as an A&W Root Beer franchise in 1927 with dishes such as Red Prawn Lokma with black garlic . Tuesday delves into the world of freshness and vibrancy through herbs, inspired by the idea of ‘Leaf’ and reflected through a menu of innovative pairings like Hokkaido Scallop with truffle snow and caviar. As a celebration of ‘Flower’, Wednesday explores the incorporation of florals into a three-course menu heroed by the Charred Wagyu with Lobster. Thursday Night concludes the event with the concept of ‘Fruit’ being incorporated into a six-course grand finale that celebrates the Harvest of the Earth with dishes such as Blanched İçli Beef Köfte with pomegranate and truffle.

Sushi just ain't sushi 🍣, as every sushi lover knows. The owners of Sushi Kitchen Zen at My Centre Nerang have come up with a few creations of their own.
We tasted the Aburi salmon avo mountain and the Aburi salmon rainbow 🌈 for lunch this week.
I loved them so much that I decided that two plates of excellent sushi makes a delicious meal. I don't need more, but it has to be great. And those two plates cost less than $10.00 in total. Yes, both were salmon, but different textures and flavours.
Pop in to and ask about their new sushi creations.
Thanks for raising the bar,

Valyn Thai is the perfect place for a celebration. Celebrating a family birthday this week, we dined on some of our favourite dishes - crab dumplings in red curry, massaman beef cheeks, massaman lamb shank, BBQ Wagyu beef and more. Sticky eggplant is also a dish worth seeking out. In fact, we have so many favourite dishes here that it's difficult to choose what to eat. With attentive service and chandeliers overhead, we love dining at Valyn Thai.

Looking for a superlative experience for Valentine's Day? The ultimate cake to share with your love?
We have the answer...
Creator of the world's most Instagrammed cake is doing a collaboration with QT to bring two bespoke cake creations to QT for a limited time.
Suffering from FOMO a few years ago, we visited Black Star Pastry's Sydney CBD store to try their Strawberry Watermelon 🍉 Cake (pictured). Between layers of light fluffy cake and cream, the watermelon 🍉 provided a moist crunch that was a texture sensation. It was utterly memorable.
In this new collaboration, launching on Valentine's Day Friday 14 February and running until March 14, the bespoke cake creations The Love Bomb and The Ghost will be launched as part of the collab's 'Eat Your Heart Out' menu. You will be first to try them if you secure a Valentine's Day booking. What an awesome experience! Be sure to book!
