Being a loyal Apple consumer and a very happy customer of Navionics. This is simply my personal opinion for the amount of times I’ve felt my stomach in my throat. My experience with Navionics and iPad are great when motoring or sailing constantly around 6 knots. However when reducing speed to 2knots navigating through narrow, shallow sections or at night my position jumps all over the screen, disappears or goes backwards which is dangerous enough during day light. Navigating at night in those conditions can lead to disaster when solely replying on these devices. I’ve spoken with many people on this topic and only one other person has experienced these anomalies.
Updating, re install app and installing on new devices did not solve the problem.
The moment I can reach a town, purchasing an Android tablet will be No.1 on the list.

When your windless is bipolar it’s time to sort it out!

For me, having a reliable windless and engine are 2 of the most important things on a sail boat (along with many others) When s**t hits the fan it’s generally at the worst possible time and being able to drop your anchor or pull it up in a moments notice can be the difference between wooo that was close or becoming a wreck!

It’s been glitching while lowering the anchor. I’ve cleaned the points from corrosion previously with a pick and lanotec spray. Today I went a step further and trimmed the ends off the wires and extended them as they weren’t long enough. Cleaned the contacts with a pick, sandpaper and some WD40 then tested it! We back in business👌

When I have more free time it’ll be another job added to the list of rewiring it all the way back to the solenoid.

The marine environment is harsh on everything so I’ll be adding checking all electrical contacts, cleaning and lubricating to the maintenance schedule at more frequent intervals.

NAVIGATING NORTH THROUGH SHERIDAN FLATS ⛵️

I left Tin Can Bay around 9am with an average motoring speed of 5kn to reach Marker S26 around 2pm and 2.2m of tide. The goal was to be ahead of time and slow down closer to destination. The following are the shallowest depths recorded along the way with a High Tide of 2.54m at 3:55pm using the Boonlye Point Tide Marker on Navionics and using the marked channel.

Boonlye Point 2.15m at 1:36pm

🔴 S26 10.8ft at 1:40pm

North West of 🔴 S26 11ft

North West of 🟢 S27 South of 🔴 S24 9.8ft

South West 🔴 S24 8ft at 2pm

Between 🔴 S22 and 🔴 S24 9ft and 2:05pm

North East 🔴 S22 7.7 to 11 ft
