POLITICAL STORM GROWS OVER ‘TRAITOR’ CARTOON TARGETING ANDREW HASTIE
A political clash over a One Nation cartoon branding Liberal MP Andrew Hastie a “traitor” has intensified, with growing pressure on Pauline Hanson to remove the controversial video.
⚠️ Opposition Leader Angus Taylor and Senator Matt Canavan have joined calls for Hanson to take the cartoon down.
🇦🇺 Independent Senator and veteran Jacqui Lambie has also condemned the attack, accusing Hanson of targeting veterans and calling on her to “leave our veterans alone.”
The controversy centres on Hastie’s involvement in the Federal Court defamation case involving former SAS soldier Ben Roberts-Smith. Hastie was among more than 20 SAS veterans who gave evidence during the proceedings.
Hastie argues the cartoon goes beyond political criticism, saying it insults veterans who appeared in court and gave evidence under oath.
One Nation has defended its political messaging, while Hanson has so far refused to remove the cartoon.
🔥 Where should the line be drawn?
Is this legitimate political satire, or has One Nation gone too far by branding a veteran and MP a “traitor”?
