CARROLL BACKS MALINAUSKAS AS MIGRATION DEBATE HEATS UP

🇦🇺 Victorian Premier Ben Carroll has backed South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas’ defence of migration, arguing that migrants continue to make a significant contribution to Australia’s economy.

Melbourne Community Mourns Two Children After Tragic Crash

A Melbourne community is grieving after siblings Ossama El Hawli, 11, and Sarah El Hawli, 7, died following a single-vehicle rollover in Parwan, west of Melbourne.

🚨 The crash occurred yesterday afternoon, shortly after children had been collected from school.

• Sarah died at the scene
• Ossama was flown to hospital but later passed away
• Five other children, aged from toddler to teenager, were taken to hospital and remain in stable condition
• The 34-year-old driver was also taken to hospital for observation

The Australian Islamic Centre described Ossama and Sarah as cherished members of the community, with their deaths leaving families and loved ones devastated.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash and are seeking witnesses, CCTV and dashcam footage.

AUSTRALIANS COULD GET MORE CONTROL OVER SOCIAL MEDIA FEEDS

The Albanese Government is proposing new Digital Duty of Care laws that would give Australians aged 16 and over greater control over how social media content is presented to them.

The report estimates that around 200,000 Indigenous adults — about 45% of the adult Indigenous population — have a close family member who was forcibly removed from their family.

The impacts also extend to descendants, who report higher levels of psychological distress and diagnosed mental health conditions.

The findings underscore how the consequences of forced child removals can continue across generations, with calls for culturally appropriate, trauma-informed support for survivors and their families.
