A lot of people don’t talk about this part.
The days after Christmas can feel surprisingly flat, heavy, or exhausting.
Not sad exactly.
Not depressed.
Just… low.
If you’ve felt it, you’re not imagining things.
There is such a thing as a post-Christmas slump, and it makes sense.
For weeks, there’s build-up.
Planning.
Socialising.
Emotional energy.
Expectation.
Then suddenly, it’s over.
The nervous system goes from full stimulation to quiet almost overnight, and that drop can feel unsettling.
For some people, this time also brings contrast.
Who wasn’t there.
What’s changed.
What this season looks like now compared to years gone by.
That awareness often lands after Christmas, not during it.
What helps when you’re moving through this:
Slow your pace rather than pushing through.
Your system needs recovery, not motivation.
Lower your expectations of yourself for a few days.
This isn’t the time for big plans or life decisions.
Get outside each day, even briefly.
Sunlight and movement help your nervous system reset.
Eat simply and nourish yourself.
Not perfectly. Just kindly.
Limit scrolling and comparison.
Everyone’s highlight reel is loud right now.
Most of all, let the feeling pass without trying to label or fix it.
This isn’t a personal failing.
It’s a very human response to a season that carries a lot.
If you’re in this space right now, be gentle with yourself.
Energy returns.
Clarity returns.
And this quiet phase has its own purpose.
Be kind to yourself 🫶
