WHAT A BLAST !
So 6 states, nearly 22,000 kilometers and 229 days later. We arrived back home in Warragul Victoria safe and sound (and more importantly we didn't kill each other). We had a fantastic adventure and have come home with a list of places we loved and want to get back too and also places we missed or couldn't get too. But our next trips will be much shorter and more often. We will be looking to do 8 weeks away max and stay places longer, high tailing it straight to our destinations and staying in the area longer.
Top of our list is down the centre to Alice and then (of course) Tassie, which we didn't get too.
We absolutly loved Broome, Geraldton, Esperance, Betty's bay, Coffin Bay and many of the coastal bush camps we did. We do also want to get out and about around Victoria a bit more and see whats in our own back yard.

Day 229;
"THE END OF THE ROAD" ......
Well, we packed up and headed off for the last time (for this trip anyway - there is going to be plenty more to come). We have decided to do the 6 hour trip home (we will see how we go) in one hit. We got home and we are happy to be home (home sweat home). We had a fantastic adventure, travelling around Australia together. We stayed at some great places, had so much fun, we did and saw so many things. It really was a once in a lifetime trip for us. We met some fantastic people who we will be catching up with in the future. We intend now to do lots of shorter trips (max 8 weeks) and stay places longer. But we now have a list of all the places we want to go back to or missed on the lap. Our next one, will be straight up the middle to Ayers rock and Alice springs etc. Unfortunately we couldn't get to the top either (as the ferry was taken out by the cyclone) or spend any time at Exmouth and that part of the coast in WA, as We were following the cyclone that took out the ferry to the top and pretty much closed down Exmouth and that area.
We also made the decision to take the shortest way home from Port Pirie, through Bordertown instead of continuing down the coast (and the great ocean road etc). So we are home six to 8 weeks earlier than we had (very roughly) planned. But we are now really looking forward to catching up with family and friends (it's been a while).

Day 228;
We headed off to Bordertown (fuelled up a couple of times along the way) and pulled up just outside Bordertown and over the Vic border in a rest area for the night, before making the long run home in the morning. So all going well we will be home tomorrow. Feels good to be back in Vic and close to home. The toilets in this rest area are good, there are nice covered tables and benches and there is plenty of room on a nice bituman road. We had a nice Chow Mein and rice, Bonnie prepared earlier for dinner, cranked up the diesel heater and kicked back for the night with a movie. I will put up the last 2 episodes of our trip on YouTube after we get home.
This will be my second last post - FOR THIS TRIP.

Day 227;
We packed up and headed off to Port Pirie where we stayed behind the port Pirie hotel. What a great pub. It needs a lick of paint on the outside but inside is great, open fires, chesterfield lounges, live music, pool tables and a great atmosphere. They have no kitchen at present (some renovations underway) but you can order in from any of the many nearby takeaway shops (pizza's for us). We found a great church that has been turned into a fish and chip shop, " The Church of Fish & Chips". Bloody brilliant. We did a fair walk into town and had a look around then back to the van for a rest, before spending the night in the pub. We have decided that in the morning we are going to take the quick way home and head to border town and stay there, instead of following the coast home.

Day 226;
second day at Arno Bay. This is a super friendly place, the locals are great. Today we had a good lie in before doing the first boardwalk. Got back to the van and we did a bit of maintenance ready for our departure tomorrow. Then we went and did the second (and much longer) boardwalk, before going to the cafe and relaxing for a while. This has to be one of the friendliest towns we have come across. Arno Bay - well worth a visit.

Day 225;
We took off from Coffin Bay and headed straight to Arno Bay, where we are staying behind the Arno bay hotel. We booked in for 3 nights (weather we stay 3 nights or not?) at $20 for 3 nights and a $10 voucher to spend at the pub, cafe or supermarket, we thought it was pretty good value, even if we stay only one night and it's directly opposite the caravan park priced at $37 per night. What a find ! This is a small town but in pristine condition, a beautiful little town with a very nice bay and super friendly locals. Unfortunately the latest Algae bloom has effected the fishing and in particular the Squid fishing, which is now temporarily banned until they get the numbers back up. But what a find; A great place. The pub opened at 12 and we checked in and set up (we are staying hooked up as everything is in walking distance). We went for a 9.5k walk and checked out the area (only apx 5 shops). Tomorrow we are going to do a couple of the boardwalks. We went to the pub for dinner which was nice. I had a pizza and Bonnie had a Squid Snitzel with a garlic sauce and Prawns (different but apparently yummy). Then home for a movie.
