We have just spent an amazing 11 days on Cape Leveque north of Broome.

Red dirt roads that lead to red cliffs, white sand and clear blue water.

They have incredible tidal ranges of up to 12m (~40 feet).

The Kiwi loved our stay at the Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm where they made her a necklace using a pearl harvested fresh that day on our tour.

We ate freshly caught mud crabs straight off the fire on a tour with a local Indigenous Ranger.

Definitely 1 of our top 3 areas/locations of our 11 months on the road.

Next up we test our car and vans off-road capability to the full on the 800km Gibb River Road.

Last night we had clear sky and very little light pollution. It’s really worth the effort finding out what your phone camera can actually do.

These photos were taken on the Kilts iPhone 16pro.

We saw what we think was a meteor going across the sky and then amazing shots of the Milky Way.

We are now heading north towards Broome and have spent time in the mining port town of Port Hedland and watched the ‘staircase to the moon’ phenomenon which is when the full moon rises over mudflats at low tide.

We then stayed at the 200,000 hectare Pardoo Wagyu beef station where we bought the best eye fillet steak we have ever eaten.

It was then onto Cape Keraudren where the tidal range was ~6m - which allowed for some amazing side-by-side different views - at low tide we saw multiple octopuses and crabs in the shallow pools.

We also continue to see amazing wildflowers , including the Sturt Pea.

Next stop is 80 Mile Beach - it’s a hard life but someone has to do it!!!! 😉

4 amazing days at 14 Mile beach camp!!

This has definitely been our favourite beach camping of the trip so far - helped by stunning blue skies.

The beach is 3.5km of white sand with beautiful blue water protected by Ningaloo Reef. We saw lots of turtles and a dolphin feeding close to the shore.

Being able to have a campfire was an added bonus.

Will definitely be back here.

Our next stop was Quobba Point where there are blowholes and an area called the Aquarium that is a sheltered bay know for many species of fish, turtles etc.

Unfortunately the wind blew hard for the whole 3 days we were there which greatly limited activities and also with low tides during the day meant we couldn’t get in for a swim. Given this is the first really windy weather we have experienced in WA we can’t really complain!

Also insta-famous for its ‘King Waves Kill’ sign - a warning for people rock fishing - not surfing!!

Next stop on our adventure is Kennedy Range National Park.

Almost 300km of dirt roads, but with the tyre pressures lowered and 70-80kmh the car and van performed very well.

The wild flowers were again amazing and we actually saw some cattle as we passed through a few huge stations that are over 200,000 hectares.

We also saw a proper mountain goat - not the kilt, watching the cliffs from our caravan spot.

On our hike into the gorge today we saw an enormous spider and a grass hopper. Also some wedge tailed eagles.

Next stop was Mount Augusta - the ‘world’s biggest rock’ - twice the size and height of Uluṟu.

We cycled 50km all the way round the mountain and then climbed to the summit. Amazing views from the top.

We have also seen some amazing wild flowers travelling inland over the past few days.

After Kalbarri we stopped in at Lake Hutt - known for being a pink lake.

They actually harvest the bacteria that creates the pink colour for natural food colouring.

This is where a drone can really come into its own as the pink colour was so much more vivid 120m above the lake compared to the lookout.
