Today’s very simple breakfast: steamed bao buns and Sichuan cabbage stir fry.
I just quickly made these because we suddenly missed one of our most memorable breakfasts during our trip to Mount Bipenggou in Western Sichuan, China. ❤️
Simple ra kaayo, but somehow it’s one of the breakfasts we still talk about. It was complimentary from our hotel and the staff were locals from the mountains. They were the sweetest people, serving us delicious homemade Sichuan dishes with the most genuine smiles.
From our hotel, we woke up to a view of beautiful snow-capped mountains right outside our window. Mura gyud ug postcard ayyy.🥹
Our breakfast spread wasn’t really fancy but it was perfect. They prepared bao buns, Sichuan cabbage stir fry, Sichuan cauliflower stir fry, hard-boiled eggs and fresh mountain mushroom salad.
And then… nalibog mi asa ang kape or gatas. 🤣
So there was a coffee machine BUT everything was written in Chinese so we literally just copied whatever buttons the other guests were pressing. We managed to get warm milk… success! Very creamy and fresh jud, I believe it was yak milk. But of course, my husband being hilabtanon kay nag crave najud sya ug coffee, pressed some random buttons and… voila! Fresh coffee came out! 😂 We were all laughing because we honestly had no idea what we were doing. It’s funny how the simplest breakfasts become the most unforgettable memories.
Hopefully we’ll be back sooner than later… God willing. 🙏
