Progress sounds exciting.
Until you’re the one living with the consequences.

A landslide makes homes hard to insure.
Roads get worse while traffic increases.
Growth keeps coming, but labour doesn’t.
And suddenly, everything feels like it revolves around money instead of people.

In Episode #18 of The Joe Show, Joe talks honestly about what’s unfolding across McCrae, Mornington, Blairgowrie, Hastings and Frankston and why paying attention to local issues has never mattered more.

He also highlights the quiet work of groups like Hastings SES, who are training, preparing, and looking for volunteers while the rest of us carry on.

PS. Joe’s taking a well-deserved break and will be back in January.
Until then, read the local paper, stay curious, and keep caring about where you live.

As 2025 wraps up, we just want to say a big thank you 💛

This year at Radio Western Port, the studio’s been full of conversations, plenty of laughs, heaps of learning, and local voices we’re genuinely proud to share.

A special shoutout to our 2025 shows:
• Inspired to Soar with Hannah Radio Podcast: honest chats about resilience, mental health, and finding your voice
• Hastings U3A: a reminder that learning (and good company) doesn’t stop
• The Joe Show: local stories, great banter, and plenty of heart

Shows like these are exactly why community radio matters.

And now… we’re looking to 2026 👀
Have you ever thought:
• “I’ve got something to say”
• “I love this community”
• “I reckon I could do a show”

👉 Consider this your nudge.

We’d love to hear from locals who want to start their own show in 2026. No radio background needed. Just bring your interest, your ideas, and a willingness to give it a go.

Comment or message us if you want to chat.
Let’s make 2026 another big year for local voices 🎙️

Staying active doesn’t always start with motivation.
Sometimes it starts with a table, a bat, and a few good people around you.

In Episode 15 of the Hastings U3A podcast, we chat with Norm, the heart and humour behind the Table Tennis group. What sounds like a game quickly becomes something bigger. Movement. Laughter. Belonging.

This is about showing up, staying curious, and finding joy in shared moments.

If you’ve ever underestimated how powerful simple routines can be, this episode might change your mind.

🎧 Listen now and see how table tennis keeps minds sharp, bodies moving, and smiles constant at Hastings U3A.

Some episodes are polished.
This one is human.

Episode #8 of Anita’s Community Catch Up is Anita’s final sign-off for 2025 and it’s equal parts funny, heartfelt, and quietly important.

Because this time of year can hit differently.
The calendar says “festive”.
Your nervous system might say “too much”.

Anita shares a simple reminder: if you’re struggling, don’t disappear for weeks. Take a couple of days if you need it, then reach out. Check in on your mates. Especially the ones who are a bit “spicy”, neurodivergent, or good at saying “I’m fine” while clearly not fine.

This episode also acknowledges the passing of Steve Wright, CEO and Principal at Advance Community College, and what it means when a community loses a big presence.

And then, in true Anita fashion, we swing from real-life grief… to horticulture updates… to an unexpected echidna road crossing that turns into a surprisingly moving reminder to slow down and look after what’s around us.

If you need something grounding as we head into Christmas and the heat, this is it.

Leadership is about RESPONSIBILITY

In this episode of Inspired to Soar with Hannah Radio Podcast, Hannah sat down with SUE BAKER for Pines Ward Frankston City Council 2024, newly elected Mayor of Frankston City Council, to talk about what leadership really looks like when the spotlight is on and the stakes are high.

They spoke about values, mental health, listening to community, and the quiet resilience it takes to lead with integrity when there are no easy answers.

This conversation is a reminder that leadership is shaped long before the role arrives and that the way we show up every day matters more than any position we hold.

If you care about community, wellbeing, or leading with purpose, this episode is for you.

Bullying doesn’t end with policies.
It ends when people feel seen, heard, and safe.

In Episode #72 of Inspired to Soar with Hannah Radio Podcast, Hannah sat down with Janet Enriquez-Grima, CEO of Bully Zero Australia Foundation, to talk about what bullying really looks like in Australia today, how online harm has changed the landscape, and why prevention starts with connection and courage.

This conversation is personal, honest, and deeply important.
If you’ve ever been impacted by bullying, or want to help create kinder spaces, this one matters.

Most people think leadership starts with a title.

It doesn’t.

It starts at early mornings on local sports grounds.
Late nights in committee meetings.
Turning frustration into responsibility instead of walking away.

In Episode 71 of Inspired to Soar with Hannah Radio Podcast, Hannah sits down with Cam Williams, a local councillor, community leader, and someone who proves that real change starts with showing up long before anyone’s watching.

This is a conversation about sport, service, mental strength, family, and why everyday people stepping forward is how communities actually work.

Some people don’t change careers.
They change direction in life.

In Episode #70 of Inspired to Soar with Hannah, Hannah sits down with Nicole Rhodes, someone who left the corporate world to do work that is quieter, deeper, and profoundly human.

Nicole doesn’t rush people.
She walks beside them.
Through illness.
Through fear.
Through endings and new beginnings.

This conversation is about purpose that whispers, not shouts. About choosing meaning over momentum. And about how presence alone can change a life.

If you’ve ever felt the pull toward something more aligned, but didn’t know if you were brave enough to follow it, this episode is for you.

Some stories don’t shout.
They sit quietly in people’s lives, carrying weight, pain, and strength all at once.

In today’s episode of Inspired to Soar with Hannah Radio Podcast, I’m joined again by Tracey Waugh, a youth worker, a woman living with Type 1 diabetes, and someone brave enough to speak openly about menopause and the mental health impact that comes with it.

This conversation is real.
It’s about what happens when your body changes, your energy shifts, your emotions feel heavier, and you’re still expected to show up for everyone else.

If you’re navigating menopause, chronic illness, mental health challenges, or supporting others while quietly holding your own struggles, this episode is for you.

Episode #68 of Inspired to Soar with Hannah Radio Podcast is her first interview recorded outside the Radio Western Port studio in Hastings. The sound isn’t perfect (yet), but the story is worth leaning in for… and we promise it will keep improving from here. 😊

Hannah sat down with Councillor and Deputy Mayor Steffie Conroy, a woman juggling leadership on Council, safety and culture work in construction, and life as a mum to two young boys.

She talks honestly about:

What a safe and healthy workplace really looks like

How culture affects people at work and at home

The reality of balancing family, community, and leadership

Most people see leaders.
Very few see the weight they carry.

In this week’s episode of Inspired to Soar with Hannah Radio Podcast, I sit down with Mayor Kris Bolam, one of the youngest mayors in Frankston City Council's history, for a conversation that goes beyond titles, politics, and public perception.

We talk about:

What leadership really costs emotionally

The mental-health pressure no one prepares you for

Serving your community without losing yourself

And why strength isn’t about having all the answers, it’s about staying human

This episode is honest, grounded, and deeply needed, especially if you’ve ever felt pressure to “hold it all together” while carrying responsibility for others.

Most people think walking is “just exercise.”

But it’s not.

It’s connection.
It’s conversation.
It’s noticing the world again.

In Episode #14 of the Hastings U3A podcast, we talk with Paul from Walk the Peninsula about how something as simple as walking together has built friendships, boosted wellbeing, and helped people stay active without pressure or expectations.

Sometimes the best ideas for better health are the most obvious ones.
